Picture of Hollis Woods

By: Katarina Markovic                                                                                                                            5.8.2013

My job for this week was to be the connector. This is a summary of what i wrote:

The part when Hollis runs away from every home she has been, that can also happen in real life. Kids orphans who get new homes and chances often get bored in homes or don't think that they belong there. Hollis ran away from almost every home except for the old mans, Izzy's and Steven's house. She was forced to leave because she made them many problems and that made her life even worse because she had to leave the only place she ever loved. That is the worst part for orphans even in the real world, they always get kicked out of the place they love/ loved the most.

Her father was watching her and then he told her that she can be his partner. Father tought Caddie how to fix clocks. When she showed the clock to the rest of the family they all thought that Father repeared the clock but really Caddie fixed the clock.

1)Why do you think Hollis ran away from all the other peoples houses if they liked her and they needed her?
Because she got bored of people really fast and wants to change her life but her life always stays the same just with different friends and people.
2)Do you think Hollis will stay with Josie? Why?
Yes, because she is really protective over Josie and Josie is really nice to her and also cares about her and that's why Josie ran away with Hollis.
3)Why do you think Hollis does not like school?
She feels like she is the only one thats different because everyone other then her has a family that cares about them and she just has foster homes and she believes that nobody understands her.
4)Why is the mustard lady calling Hollis to come and meet a lot of people?
So that she can interact with other people. And because the mustard woman wants Hollis to move to a different home because she thinks Josie is forgetful.
5) According to Josie how is Hollis acting toward her?
She is acting like a normal person toward Josie and its like they are actually family because they care for each other a lot.

The Egypt Game

The Egypt Game
by Zilpha Keattey Snyder
pages 215

This week I was The discussion director. This week I had a lot of questions. One of those questions is How did the little girl die? My group came to a conclusion that the girl died because she was strangled, hanged or died of poison because in the book it did not say that she had any wounds on here body. Another one of my question was Why did April not want to meet Elizabeth? My group came to a conclusion that she might become there friend and follow them around and she might find out about the Egypt game which April and Meline want to keep it a secret.
