Tom met new a girl
and she liked him a lot. It was Becky Thatcher, a daughter of a local judge. Another
new character in this book is Huckleberry Finn, the son of the towns drunker.
He is homeless, doesn’t go to school, and lives a wild life.
Once, at midnight,
Tom and Huck went into the graveyard. They hear somebody is coming and hide. It
was Dr. Robinson with two criminals. They were stealing bodies from the grave. One
of them murdered Dr. Robinson, and Tom and Huck run away, fearing for their
lives.
Tom decided to
leave Aunt Polly because Becky was not paying attention to him. When he sneaks
into the house to leave a message to his aunt that he is alive, he overhears
his aunt and cousins crying and talking about funeral plans for him and Huck. In
the middle of the funeral, they come out of hiding and everybody is happy.
During the summer Tom and Huck go
looking for treasure. But, they find one of the criminals from the graveyard
again. They discover that he has a big treasure. They decide to spy on him and
try to steal it. All the children go on a picnic to McDougal's Cave. Tom and
Becky get lost.
I still like
this book even though I sometimes read it a little harder. The language in this
book is old-fashion and many words are abbreviated.
