The story of the book take place in the prison and the court room.  All the scenes are located only indoors, never outdoors.  In the prison house there are only two places, where the story takes place: in the interrogation room and Steve's jail cell.  Steve's jail cell, the interrogation room in jail, and court room are all located in State New York.
