The book that I’m reading
(“Where Things Come Back”) won the William C. Morris Debut Award and the
Michael L. Printz Award. The
William C. Morris Debut Award is an award presented to an impressive
book by a debut author writing for teens. This award is administered by the Young Adult Library Services
Association (YALSA) a division of the American Library Association (ALA). William C. Morris gave the money to the ALA to fund programs,
publications, events, or awards in promotion of children’s literature. The
second award (Michael L. Printz Award) is presented to the year’s
best book written for teens. It is sponsored by Booklist
magazine and is named for the Kansas school librarian Mike
Printz, a long-time active member of the Young Adult Library Services
Association.
