For my third quarter book project I have finished reading all 399 pages of, The Golden Compass, by Philip Pullman. The climax of The Golden Compass is when Lyra is kidnapped by the Samoyed people and taken to the Gobblers, where she is looking both for Roger and a way to escape. The event that led to the climax of The Golden Compass was everybody; Lyra, Lorek Byrnison and the Gyptions on their boat getting ready to sail to the North.

The Princess Bride: Climax

The book I finished reading for my book report is "The Princess Bride" by William Goldman.  The climax of this novel is when Westley is pronounced dead. Buttercup is depressed and vows never to love again. After some time Prince Humperdinck comes to notice Buttercups beauty, and ask's (demands) her hand in marriage. Buttercup accepts as it is the only way to avoid death. The event that led to the climax was when Westley went to America to seek fortune. 

Hobbit

The book that I finished reading is called the Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien (#306/306 pages). The climax of the hobbit is when the dwarfs, the hobbit find the secret entrance that leads to the halls that Smaugh the dangerous dragon rules. Smaugh lives in The Lonely Mountain, and when the dwarfs find the door that leads to Smaugh they are excited but also afraid of the things that are going to happen. What lead to this climax was when they *(hobbit and dwarfs) were walking on hills, mountains getting through many obstacles and trying to get to the Lonely Mountain.

The book of sight climax

Hey guys,

I am doing "The Book of Sight" for my book project.

The climax is when they go into this dark cave, almost drown, and find a cave full of books like the ones they have. Magical books. Then... A squid-like-creature comes up and tries to kill them! One of them slashes a sword at it and kills it.

How exciting could that be? VERY!!! I loved that part of the book. Many books have that. I can't describe how exciting it is.

The Return of The King

                 There are many climaxes in this book also because there are two parts of telling this story. I'm kind of late reading this book and most of you have probably read it already. In my opinion, I believe the climax was when finally at the top of the mountain, at the point of trying to get rid of the ring, Frodo is taken over to evil and attacks his loyal friend and assistant Sam. Then Gollum, or Smeagle, or both attacks Frodo and bites off Frodo's finger and gains the ring! Only to fall into the fire unto which the ring was first created. This I have to say wasn't the most exciting part for me and wasn't my favorite either. The main event that led up to the climax in this book is when Frodo learns that Sam took the ring from him after believing that he was finally dead. This whole thing went to his head and the power of the ring was so strong that from that point on, he was lead by the leash of the ring as he was the ring bearer.

Mark of Athena | By Rick Riordan | Climax

The climax is the most exciting part of the book, what you read for. The climax in my book came at the end. The quest that the 7 main characters have to go on is to defeat Gaea, mother earth, she wants to wipe out all of humanity and let her off springs roam the earth (giants, titans, etc.). One key element to defeat her is to find and retrieve the Athena Parthenos. Annabeth, one of the 7 main character, goes on a solo quest given to her by her mother to find the Athena Parthenos because the Romans tore that statue down and instead of keeping her as a war strategy goddess; they made her a goddess of crafts and wisdom. Athena was offended and that made Minerva, Athena's roman equivalent, a very bitter goddess as well. Athenians wanted revenge for that so Minerva or Athena would send a child of Athena to find the Athena Parthenos every couple of centuries.SPOILER ALERT: The next couple of sentences spoil the book, but that's the climax! Annabeth is the first of her brethren to succeed in the task of defeating Arachne and retrieving the Athena Parthenos. She has to outwit Arachne and make her weave her own trap, a giant Chinese handcuff inspired Frank Zhang, another of the 7 main characters. She manage to make Arachne think that there is a fault in her weaving and makes Arachne climb in the contraption and, obviously, gets her stuck. Then the other 6 of the crew crash through the roof of Arachne's underground hideout and drag the Athena Parthenos on board of the flying ship. And the very, very end is too much of a spoiler to tell you.
 An event leading up to the climax is the battle in which Percy and Jason (2 of the 7 chosen to go on the quest) have to fight Otis and Ephialtes (two giants how were created to destroy Dionysus) in the Colosseum, the real one that was restored by Dionysus to see whether or not Jason and Percy were worthy of his help.
 I finished reading the book.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief - Post 5

Ave! (That is 'hello' in Latin, but I think it means 'hail' too, but whatever) As you might know already from my prev. posts or my title, the book I read for this book report (the third-quarter one) is 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief' by Rick Riordan. I read all 375 pages.

      I think the climax of this book is when the three main characters, Percy, Annabeth and Grover just escaped from the Underworld, and find out that Ares helped the lightning thief because of the war the stolen lightning bolt could bring among the gods. I think this part was the climax because Percy and his friends find out a lot about the quest and what caused the quest, where the lightning bolt was, who planned all of this, and because this part pretty much ended the quest except for bringing the lightning bolt to Olympus, to give it back to Zeus.
      In this part, Ares appears on the beach Percy and his friends were present, and tells Percy that he and his friends weren't supposed to come back out alive from the Underworld, which was part of Ares's plan to cause a big war among the gods.
      Ares also tells Percy everything about his plan, which was that first, he met the lightning thief and found out that he has stolen the lightning bolt. Ares was going to punish the thief, but the thief told Ares about the advantages for the god if he let him (the thief) go. Since Ares was the god of war, the thief told Ares that this could cause a big war among the gods, which was (sort of) an advantage to the god of war. So Ares made a plan to get things happen as the lightning thief and himself wanted, and let the lightning thief go. The plan was that Ares would give Percy the backpack/case carrying the lightning bolt, so Percy won't notice that the lightning bolt was in there. Then, Percy and his friends would go to the Underworld, where Hades was, who thought that Percy both stole the lightning bolt and Hades's symbol of power, the Helm of Darkness. Hades would kill Percy, Annabeth, and Grover, and find the lightning bolt inside the bag Ares gave Percy. Then the three most powerful gods: Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon, will accuse and fight each other and cause a big war among the gods.
      Then, Percy gets angry and both Ares and Percy decide to duel, which is kind of not smart (stupid) of Percy because Ares was the war god, which means that he couldn't die, and Ares would be very skilled in fighting. But somehow Percy manages to injure the war god in the ankle with his sword (Riptide/Anaklusmos), which makes Ares angry, tells Percy that he made a dangerous enemy, and leave (what? He leaves?).
      I think that was the climax.
