Pure ~ Award winning book

The book I am currently reading is Pure. Pure is the first book in the trilogy, the author is Julianne Baggott. The book has 431 pages and I am currently on the 367th page. The book was published on February 8th, 2012 by Grand Central Publishing. 

Pure begins very differently from other books. The author's world described years characterized from bombings that created desolated and dying terrains of her novel. These bombings, which stratify survivors, left "Pures" people with bodies unmarred. They lived safely in a place called the Dome and the rest of humankind ( genetically mutated and physically disfigured humans) were left in the desolated remaining world, where they struggled for survival. 

Pressia and Patridge, 16 and 17 years old respectively, remember the world before. They are able to filter the new world through the awakening of young adult consciousness. The youngsters live vastly different lives, Patridge receives shelter and nurture as one of the few who are chosen to live inside the Dome. Pressia struggles outside to survive in a world devastated by Detonations. However, Pressia becomes fugitive, fleeing from militias that will either use her for target practice or induct her into their murderous ranks. At the same time Partridge escapes the Dome, searching for the truth about his mother. Inevitably, their worlds collide and realities shatter.

The one that I have chosen to talk about is the Library Association Alex award winner. The Alex Awards are given to 10 books written for adults that have special appeal to ages 12 to 18.  The winning titles are selected from previous publishing years. The Alex awards annually started giving out awards in 1988 and became official ANA awards in 2002. 

Because of Winn- Dixie

    The author this book Is called Kate Dicamillo . This book Is Interesting and funny because there I one dog called winn dixie and she loved this manager that gives her food. One day she came and she jumped on him because she was happy to see him and knocked him down and the manager was humiliated because there where a lot of people and he started crying. Ruby Hollers-Award

Hi guys,
The book I am reading is called Ruby Hollers. The author of the book is Sharron Creech. The book is about the two twins named Dallas and Florida. They lived in an orphanage. The owner of the orphanage always punished both of them to run or shout. The owner named them the "Trouble twins". They were always sent to fosters families. They got their bad memories from the foster families. After 2 or 3 days they were sent to the orphanage, by the foster families, because of their behavior. The name of the book came from a place where the twins were sent "Ruby Hollers". This book has 309 pages and I am on the 88 page number.
The book won lots of awards. The award that I chose to write about is called THE CARNEGIE AWARD FOR CHILDREN'S LITERATURE.  The Carnegie award is a British Literary Award.  We can say it is same as the America's Newbery Award. If a book wins this award that means that the book has excellent literary quality and the book should be written for children and young adults.

I am reading Holes by Louis Sacher for the book report. The setting in a camp called the Green Lake Camp for bad boys.  It is where the boys have to dig a hole every day. The main charter is Caveman. This book has 240 pages.

This book has won a lot of awards. This book won the John Newbery Award or the Newbery Award and the National Book Award for Young People's Literature 


 Newbery Award 
The John Newbery award or the Newbery Award is given by the Association for library Service 
to Children. It is given to the "most distinguished American children's book" published each year.
This award has started in 1921 almost 100 years before me.  It was the first book award for a 
children's book in the world.  It is for American books.  When the  book wins the award it has a 
medal on the cover. This book won the award in 1999. 





National Book Award for Young People's Literature
The National Book Award is awarded by the National Book Foundation in four categories.  One is
for Young People's Literature.  The purpose is to honor the best writers in the USA each year.  
It started in 1950 and is still going today.  The judges are writers and they make a decision every year
about the winner.  The winners are announced only in the awards ceremony.  The winner gets
$10,000.  This book won the Young people's literature award in 1998.

Book Report #2 Downriver Anastasis

The book that I am reading is called DOWNRIVER and the author is Will Hobbs. He has also written lots of other books and all of them are fiction. The book has 235 pages and the the awards that it has won are:

• Winner, California Young Reader Medal 
• Winner, Colorado Blue Spruce Young Adult Book Awards

Because the book has won 2 awards, I picked the most important one, which I think is Winner of the California Young Reader Medal. I think that this is the most prestigious award because it has it listed at the back of the book and all the other awards are just honors. The honors that were listed are:

The California Young Reader Medal works by Teachers and Librarians noting read or requested titles by kids. Children also recommend the titles of their favorite books to the teachers and the teachers submit it. After that, the California Young Reader Medal Committee read the suggested books and they discuss until they get to their final outcome.

Dead Man's Cove

           Hello Readers, I am back with another blog about my book. This time I will tell you the awards this book have achieved. Let's get on with it, shall we?

           Now I will list the awards and then tell you the definition of the awards, and at the end since I am not a jerk I will summarize everything that I have read so far. BTW, I have read up till chapter 6. I will summarize what has happened in the book so far for you after the awards.

• Blue Peter Book of the Year - 2011

           This book has unfortunately only won 1 award, but as I promised i would define the award and tell you about the award. 

           The Blue Peter Book of the Year award was created in 2000. The aim of the award is to let parents and children know which is the best children's literature. The award is administered by Book Trust and is associated by the BBC's long running children's magazine program. 

           Now just because I like all of you who are reading this blog I will summarize my reading so far. Just think of the summary as a bonus in the blog, enjoy it!

           Now Laura the main character lives at her uncle's house in St. Ives. Her Uncle is scary and kind to her at the same time. His name is Calvin Redfern. Her uncle's house is huge. It was the morning and as Laura was admiring how beautiful the day is the cemetery had caught her eyes. She then immediately thought of the sounds she heard at that previous night. She had the thought of the dead walking at the fierce stormy night. She was really scared until the clock caught her eyes. It was 10:05 a.m. She thought her uncle didn't care whether she slept the day away or she did not sleep at the night. This was because the only time she was allowed to wake up past 8:00 a.m was on Christmas. She went into the dining room to have breakfast and to look for her wolf hound named Lottie. At first she couldn't find her uncle. Then later on she found him, or so she thought. She opened the door to her uncle's study (the place where she thought her uncle was). Instead of her uncle she saw a lady named Mrs.Webb dusting the study. Mrs. Webb is the cleaner. Laura closed that door and on her way to the kitchen Laura had the thought that either her uncle likes his documents polished or Mrs. Webb is interfering in his official life. Laura is overall finding fault with the place even though she just came the night before.

Heart of a Samurai

The book that I am reading is called "Heart Of a Samurai". The author of the book is Margi Preus. This book has won 12 awards. It is also called a honor book. In the first chapter so far the characters are Manjiro, Denzo,  Jusuke, and fisherman. For me the biggest award this got is Self-awareness top ten books in 2010.
