Hello fellow readers. This week I have been reading a book called mortal fire by Elizabeth Knox. I chose this book because I had read every book I had at home and when I was on winter break my family and I went to a book store and I looked at the shelves and found the book. When I read the blurb I knew that this was going to be an interesting read and I was right. An unknown word that I found is dispel. To dispel means to drive off in various directions, to disperse. A sentence that dispel can be used in is, "Facts are only useful if they can inform broader concepts and help dispel myths."

The Sweetest Sorrows of Ava Hale ♡

The story that I'm reading is ''The Sweetest Sorrows of Ava Hale'' by Kara Cross. The story I'm reading is written on the website called ''Wattpad'', an online community where lots of people publish their stories in many chapters. Basically, Kara Hall is not the author of any books, she is just a girl who writes her stories on Wattpad for fun. Getting back to the story....

"The Sweetest Sorrows of Ava Hale" is the story about the girl trying to be happy again since her sister Kesley was murdered, at lake O'Hara. The girl is basically writing a letter to her dead sister and trying to ignore the pain. Although, this is only the first chapter out of twenty two, I'm really enjoying this story. I'm looking forwards to read every chapter and see what will happen. (On Wattpad, each chapter is usually about one or two pages). Finding this story on Wattpad was really random and since I read stories on Wattpad daily, I decided to see what stories got Wattpad awards ("The Wattys") and this one was in top 10. When read the title, I was really surprised how interested it sounded to me and so I started reading it and it is one of the best stories I read on Wattpad even though it's only the first chapter/page. That's basically how I started reading this and I definitely recommend it to everybody. One unknown word was alas. Alas is used to express sorrow and this is a sentence where it was used: 'But alas, here I am, writing a letter to a dead girl.'

Insurgent ❤

Hi everyone!
Today wasn't really a week where I actually read much, due to many  4/5 days with some sort of after activity, and then a lot of homework. Yet I did get to read SOMETHING!
Currently I am in the middle of the book Insurgent by Veronica Roth. I read Divergent in the February break, and finished it in two days. It was REALLY good and I enjoyed it hugely. Reading Insurgent has been going slowly because of the play, but I am planning on finishing it by next week (lets hope.)
Currently, I am on page.... *checks*... 434 I believe, out of a grand total of 525. I'm at the part just before the really exciting things begin to happen, so I am planning on reading more this weekend. The number of pages is of Saturday morning.
I read about 50 pages this week. It is a very interesting book, which I am enjoying hugely. It is actually the second book in the Divergent trilogy, so I am halfway through the whole series.
It is a dystopian book, set in a future where society is sorted into five 'factions' you have to take an aptitude test, to see in which one you belong. There is Candor, for people who believe in honesty, Erudite, for those who believe in knowledge, Amity, who believe in happiness, Dauntless, you believes in bravery, and Abgnation, who believe in Selflessness.
I am not going to ruin the book for you though, but this is the second book, and it is really exciting and if you haven't read Divergent (book #1)... READ. IT. NOW.

 I am going to share with you one word I didn't know the meaning of. This word is actually is the title.

Insurgent ; a person fighting against a government or invading force; a rebel or revolutionary.

Basically, an insurgent is someone who is standing against the system, just like the main character Tris. In Insurgent, society has gone a little haywire, and Tris and her fellow... comrades are trying to stop everything getting even worse. They don't really believe that using weird mind control tactics, and almost killing 1/5 of the population is ok. So, they are insurgents. 

So my sentence- Tris and her comrades are insurgents, and they want to make society better for everyone.

The one that got away by Chris Ryan is about a military soldier that was himself was trapped in a battlefield both of his friends were held captive and killed he had to walk all the way from an Iraqi attack and walked 200 miles towards Syria. This is a true story based on the author. His life was constantly in danger. There were 8 members of SAS that was involved in this mission to defeat the Iraqi but only 1 could survive. In total I read 48 pages/ 320 pages. I chose this book because it looked like it had a lot of action in it. I didn't get the word cul-de-sac and I found out that it was a dead end. 

Shadow

The book I am reading just for pleasure this week is entitled Shadow by Michael Morpurgo.  This author has also written the famous book War Horse.

 I have read 33 pages out of the 264 that are in the book. 

 I will tell you a very brief  summary of what I have read so far.  There is  this kid who goes to his grandfather's house for the summer and tells his grandfather that he want to get his best friend out of a "jail" and so they go. His grandfather feels nervous about what is about to happen next.  A lot of the who, what, when, how, where and why is not included in the brief summery to make you feel more urged to read this fascinating book. 

 I chose to read this book because I had nothing to do so I thought maybe I could read the book my sister got for me and that is how I got into reading this book.   

An unknown word in the part of which I have read is befriender on page 24.  Befriender is  a person who acts as a friend to (someone) by offering help or support.

I started reading this book when i was at the airport. It was at the February break. I found out about this book because Ashley was reading it and she told me it is a good book so at a bookstore at the airport in London, I got really bored playing games on my phone so i bought it and started to read it. It was really interesting and I could relate to the book/main character so i kept on reading!

This book is called wonder. The name is unclear to me in a way. The book starts as August, telling about himself and his life. He is telling how he is a normal kid, but he looks strange and different than others. I fell really bad for him and he is always with no friends because he was always home schooled and his friends have moved or they aren't in touch anymore. He was is the narrator and main person in this part. Then after the narrator was his sister who care for him, her name is Via. At school they called her Olivia because she didn't want people to know that August, her "ugly E.T, lizard face, rat boy, monster" brother was her brother.

A work that was unknown to me in this book was gauge (page 90). The sentence was: "He looks better now, no doubt about that, but signs we used to gauge his moods are all gone". 

Gauge means to estimate or determine the amount, level, or volume of. "astronomers can gauge the star's intrinsic brightness". It also means to judge or assess (a situation, mood, etc.). An example or a sentence is "she was unable to gauge his mood".

Bunheads

This week I started a new book called Bunheads by Sophie Flack.  As a dancer with the ultra-prestigious Manhattan Ballet Company, nineteen-year-old Hannah Ward juggles intense rehearsals, dazzling performances and complicated backstage relationships. I’ve chose this book because I’ve been told great things about it. A new word that I found while reading is leotards. The definition of this word is a close-fitting one piece garment, made of a stretchy fabric, which covers a person’s body from the shoulders to the top of the tights, worn by dancers or people exercising indoors.  Currently I am on page 10.
