My new reading novel is called 'Woods Runner' by Gary Paulsen. It is 161 paged adventure book.
Brief Summary of what I have read:
The main character of this book is a thirteen year-old boy called Samuel, whose family lives in the wilderness edge in the British colony of Pennsylvania. Samuel is a forest lover. Even though he knows that the forest is very dangerous. Men went in there and was never heard of them again. Once, Samuel heard from his shirttail uncle that no creature in the forest never dies of old age. Everything kills. Samuel's parents lived in the wilderness and loved the woods but they didn't understand them, not like Samuel. Then Isaac comes with a news, an old man of the forest who comes to Samuel's family's cabin every couple of months while he is hunting. There was a trouble in Boston: the group farmers are taking up against the English army and the army and navy of England are the strongest.
My unknown words:
Page 16: There was always some measure of violence on the frontier: marauding savages, drunks, thieves-"evildoers," men who operated outside the walls of reason.
Marauding: to travel in search of things to steal or people to attack
Savages: uncivilized
Page 8: There was a tang of manure, stacked in back of small shedlike barns to age before it was put on gardens; horse and cow and chicken manure from their farm and other farms.
Tang: distintive odor
Manure: waste matter out of a body especially the animals
Page 15: The loud outside world his parents had escaped by moving to the frontier had found them.
Frontier: border
