LORD OF THE FLIES
WILLIAM GOLDING
ANTAGONIST AND PROTAGONIST
Ralph is the central character. He is also the protagonist that successfully leads the band of boys. He is a fantastic leader full of enthusiasm and hope. He is always trying to resolve depressing or hazardous situations .  Sometimes he can be quite offensive to Piggy. Piggy is a sensitive plump boy. He has helped Ralph with many ideas, especially with trials of survival.

However, there is a child who is trying to stop Ralph’s reign.
Jack is an aggressive, psychopathic child. He adores arguing. Worst of all he is plotting treason against the leader of the party.

The island is also an antagonist in a way. Nature complicates their fight for survival. The children should not have to kill animals. The isolation from adults allows them to think that killing is acceptable.
