Protagonist and Antagonist

The protagonist of the novel The Phantom Tollbooth is Milo. Milo is a boy who lives in an unnamed town and one day gets a peculiar male that sends him into another dimension. Milos personality is that he is very bored and thats how the book starts he talks about how everything is boring for him even the major amount of toys he has in his room. Milo isn't a very described character neither are the worlds he visits but judging by the cover of the book he has blond hair and is not so tall. The book doesn't say how old he is but since he goes to school and has toys I think that he's about ten to twelve years old.

The antagonist of this novel is Ignorance. Ignorance means to be un'educated and in this case the lack of knowledge and lack of inquiry prevents Milo from overcoming the conflict. Ignorance is also the area where all the scary demons are in the Island of Conclusions. I think that the author tried to show how bad ignorance or being ignorant is by making Ignorance the home to all the demons, this also shows how ignorance un helped Milo from reaching the Castle in the air.
