The Hobbit setting is in Middle Earth where dwarfs,elves,humans,orks and hobbits live. The setting so far shown are in Hobbiton also called Bag End. The time of The Hobbit is 2941 and 2942 of the Third Age during mostly March of our calender's and winter, Middle Earth is very similar to planet earth during the dark ages, especially the surroundings are more similar to northern Europe since the trees and the spring are very similar due to rainy and sometimes snowy springs.
This is a really cool book!
