Airborn Awards

The book Airborn has the Michael L. Printz award. This award is given to books for teens, its basically the award "best book for teens". It was established by a librarian from Topeka, Kansas, who was named Michael L. Printz, he had a passion for reading and was also an active member of YALSA. YALSA is a national association of librarians, library workers and advocates whose mission is to expand and strengthen library services for teens.

     Nation is an adventurous book accompanied by comedy and thoughtfulness. In my opinion, so far it does not seem to have a very deep moral. I think it was written more for entertainment purposes. I am on page 305 and I am very much enjoying it.
   
     It was written by a popular English writer, Terry Pratchett. He has won many awards but unfortunately will not be able to write much more because he has caught the disease Alzheimers.

     It has won many more though. The one I will pick to talk about is the Guardian Children's Fiction 

Prize. It is an award that is awarded to books published in the U.K. for children or young adults. It

 awards books in yearly intervals. 

     Your (British) publishers apply your book for the award. You pay 25 pounds and give one coy of the

book as your fee. Some authors must publish their first chapters online and cooperate with the Guardian

Children's Fiction Prize summer program. Basically to be interviewed a lot. Then the  Guardian Children's Fiction 

Prize decides the winner. He won this award in 2009.

 The award is given to the author of "the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children." The John Newbery award was the first award for a book.

Schneider Family Book Award
The Schneider Family Book Award can be given out to Illustrators or Authors or both. The Schneider Family Book Award is always given to a book with someone who has a medical or physical problem like David in Rules.

Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children's Book Award (DCF)
The Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children's Book Award annually recognizes one new American children's book selected by the vote of Vermont school children.  That means that the book is mainly kid-friendly

About the Awards

The Newberry Book Award is a very well known award that is awarded to children's authors. This award is the oldest children's award in the world and it was established by John Newberry. This award is awarded once every year. People get because they wrote a book that is a "great benefit to children's reading".

Dorothy Canfield Fisher Children's Book Award. This award is awarded to one author every year. It was started in Vermont, 1964 every year one author wins this award and the get invited to Vermont to talk to kids about their book.

Schneider Family Book Award
This award is won when a author publishes a book that artistically describes what it is like to be a child with a disability. This award is a fairly new one because it was established in 2003 which is very new for a book award. 3 authors are chosen each year for this award. I think that it is very good to give an award out to writers who describe disabled people in different but very realistic ways.

The High King- Kai

The book I am reading is called The High King which is written by Lloyd Alexander (January 30, 1924 - May 17, 2007). The book is about Taran's friends sword called the Dyrnwyn gets stolen by Arawn the Death-Lord and they have to gather armies and destroy Annuvin. This book won the Newbery Medal in 1969. His books have also won the National Book Award and the American Book Award. Lloyd Alexander is also one of the creators of Cricket Magazine. I think this book won this award because to me it is the best book in the series (which is The Chronicles of Prydain). I also think since it was his second to last book but the last one in the series he wanted to make it the best so the readers would but the whole series to find out what happens. He also deserved this award because the book is so intense and very amazing.

The book I am reading is called "I am your evil twin". The author of this book is  R.L Stine he is the most popular author in America he also written nearly 200 scary novels for kids.This book has about {130 pages 27 chapter} witch is great for English learner like me.
The main character is Montgomery Adams but everyone calls him Monty the only person who calls him Montgomery is his Uncle Leo which is the sporting character.His mom think that Montgomery is a wonderful name and always tell him that ''your father wanted you to have this name''.His dad died one month when he was born.
This book is basically about a boy who meets his twin and the twin is evil he what to 
take his life.
I would rate this book 9/10 because this book for me it is not hard but not easy.
Also I am sorry because this book douse not have award wining.

          I like this series a lot. It is a really funny series compared to anything I read. I thought it was so funny that I laughed in my bed once and I could not sleep it was so funny.

        I choose this book is because it was the last book of the series called Sweet Farts. know you might be laughing at the title but I really like the series. Now it is not what you think it is, that is if you were thinking it was about farts smelling nice ( well that is what it is about kind of). 

       The series is about a kid named Keith Emerson who wants to make farts smell better. I know that sounds crazy and funny but it gets crazier when a scientist named Mr.Gonzalez. He has a lab where he and his scientists work. When Keith comes in he and some of Mr.Gonzalez's scientists help him to make a candy like thing called sweet farts.

The novel I am reading is called "The Maze Runner". The book is written by James Dashner. I started reading the book two days ago and I am currently on page 60 of 370. The book was recommended to me by my friend. The book is a science fiction/young adult fiction, it immediately sucks the reader in. The novel is about a boy names Thomas, he wakes up in an elevator with no memory of the past. He meets another group of boys who also have lost their memory. Thomas slowly learns about the maze that is surrounding him, which is filled with monsters. 

I can't put the book down. I reccomendto anyone who loves apocalyptic fiction.

I’m reading the book AIRBORN. I have read till chapter two but I’m only summarizing chapter one. Well even though I didn’t choose this book if I heard of it I would totally read it. The book is told by Matt Cruse, the main character. He got a job that his father had before he died. His job was to look from the crow’s nest at the weather changes. The crow’s nest is the top of the Aurora airship. Matt has to work to feed his family a mother and two sisters.

One day he accidentally spotted a balloon. The balloon was out of control and the airship which Matt was on tried to catch it. They successfully caught the balloon and in it was a very badly injured man. The man had some type of concision and was in very bad condition. Matt had talked multiple times with him and realized he only partially remembers his life. Unfortunately he had pneumonia and had heart seizure. He died couple of hours later. Matt was the last one talking with him.

Ms. Stanisic.The book is about a boy born on an airship. His name is Matt Cruse. His father is dead and he has two sisters and a mother. One day he see's a hot air balloon and his interesting adventure begins...... 

The Book I am Reading - Airborn

The book I am reading is called "Airborn". The author of this book is Kenneth Oppel. The book has 501 pages. I am reading another book as well, but this is the one I have read the most lately. Since it's the book we are reading in class I didn't choose it myself, but I am glad we are reading it because it is very good. So far I have read two chapters of the book, which is 58 pages. The main character, Matt Cruse, has an adventure on board the airship, Aurora, which he works as a cabin boy on. In the first chapter he rescues an air balloon in a very exciting way. In the second chapter there are some late passengers, who catches up with the Aurora in an ornithopter. The ornithopter lands inside the Aurora so the passengers can get off.

I like this book very much, and I am looking forward to continue reading it. I don't need to recommend it to you since you're reading it too.            

The Secret of the Fortune Wookiee - Aleksa D

The book that I'm currently reading is The Secret of the Fortune Wookiee. The author of this amazing book is Tom Angleberger, this book is in the Origami Yoda series with another 7 books. I think this book is really funny and interesting because of its weird and confusing events. The way I was introduced to this book was when in fourth grade my best friend and I chose two books for our book report and found out the two books where in the series. I chose Darth Paper Strikes back and
he chose Origami Yoda, then after the book project he bought me this book from America and I read it a couple of times and I'm reading it again. In this book Dwight got suspended before in the first book from the school because of Origami Yoda and the school is missing him and Yoda, so Sara brings a origami wookiee and says that she got it from Dwight. Everything starts going back to normal but then Tommy, the main character finds something out. He finds that Sara lied about Dwight giving her the wookie and that it only can say 7 fortunes. With nobody trusting The fortune wookiee they needed Dwight back and Origami Yoda. They convince the principle to allow Dwight to come back to school but will he, you'll will find out in Art2-D2's guide to Folding and Doodling which I have also read...

I kissed a zombie and I liked it

The title of the book I am reading is “I kissed a zombie and I liked it”, the author of the book is Adam Selzer. The page I am currently on is 50 and the book has 177 pages all together, I began reading it yesterday. It is a romantic/thriller book and it sucks the reader in within the first few pages. The book is about this girl, Alley Rhodes, who lives in a city where all the post-humans came out of their coffins – which includes vampires, werewolves and zombies. According to Alley the movies don’t tell the real story at all, actually, real vampires are brooding, self- absorbed jerks that run around acting emo. Until one night Alley goes to the Cage, to review a local band, the sorry Marios for her school blog. When suddenly a special guest singer appears on stage, Doug, his soft and crooning 

voice stops her heart and for the first time the whole emo thing to alley seems cute.

This is what I have read so far from the book and I am looking forward to what is going to happen next. This book was recommended to me by Ms.Stanisic!

I chose to read this book because I love Troy I have watched the movie over 50 times. The story of what happens interests me the most. 

What Book I am Reading Anastasis

The book that I am reading is called The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and it has 281 pages. The author of the book is called Mark Twain. I chose to read this book because one  of my friends had given it to me for my birthday in fifth grade and I had not read it yet. I also wanted to read the book because my mum said that it is nice and I believed her because she is always right about reading good books. For now I know that the the story begins in St. Petersburg, Missouri on the shore of the Mississippi River. 

The Two Towers

Having 352 pages, the sequel of the lord of the rings, the Twin Towers, is an amazing book written by J.R.R Tolkien.

How I chose to read this book? Well I really liked the first one when I read it for a book report and I was wondering, "Why not read the sequel?" It was kind of obvious the sequel would be good because J.R.R Tolkien is a great writer. People also recommended it.

 In this book, the whole fellowship went in different directions.
The ring carrier and his guardian are on their way to Mordor, the other two hobbits were taken by orcs, Boromir died, and Aragorn, Legolas the elf, and Gimli the dwarf searching for the hobbits taken by the orcs. They soon traced their steps and found where they are going. They were stopped by Gandalf who had fallen into the abyss. How did he survive? He went through time and space somehow staying alive. I haven't gotten any information on the other two hobbits but hopefully they are doing fine.

Book I am Currently Reading

The book that I am currently reading is Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. It has approximately 300 pages in it. The author of this book is Rick Riordan. This book is the second book in this Percy Jackson series. This book has the New York bestselling award.

I chose this book because I had really enjoyed the first book and I decided to read the series because a lot of people were recommending it once they had read the whole series. They had said that it was a great book because there were so many interesting parts that people just wanted to read nonstop throughout the whole book. I had felt the same way just at the beginning with only the words in the book.

Throughout this book is about Luke (a bad dude) who has poisoned Thalia's tree which keeps their camp safe. Then Percy and Annabeth two kids of the gods had gone to get Grover their friend and the golden fleece to save the tree. 

Top Speed magazine

Hello everyone! It's me again and now I am back with an another summary about something that I am  currently reading. This summary is going to be about a car magazine...

I am reading a Serbian magazine about cars. The name of the magazine that I am reading is called "TopSpeed." "TopSpeed" is the "fastest magazine" in Serbia. The edition that I am reading was for their 10th year anniversary, which was 4 years ago. That means that "TopSpeed" was here in Serbia since 2000. "TopSpeed" is also a television show and in the show, they take some cars and test them in different ways. What they do on the show they put in their magazine. That way you have two ways of getting information about cars. They test every car with a lot of things in mind. The drivers give their opinion and after reading their review on some car you would be pretty informed and would know if that car is for you or not. They look at aesthetics and the overall design of the car, reliability, performance, and at the end they give an overall grade. It's essentially everything you would want to know about that certain car that you are reading about...

Now, about this magazines edition! In this magazine edition there were test on the Ferrari 458, Porsche Panamera 4s, Mini Countryman, Peugeot RCZ, Mercedes CLS, Mercedes CL 63 and some other cars. They also put some incredible information about car records and such. They did a very detailed summary of everything they put in the magazine and it was understandable!

My love of cars was always there and now I am following all the new cars that come out on "TopSpeed" and some other shows and magazines. I am waiting to use this knowledge when its time....

Dead Man's Cove - Vishesh

Hello again and I am here with a new book this time.

              I am reading a book called Dead Man's Cove. This book is written by Lauren St John. This book has 212 pages and i have read 21 pages so far. 

            The genre of this book is fictional mystery. This book is very adventurous at the same time. I chose this book because I was already reading the book and I was only on chapter 2. This book always caught my attention every time I read it. This book so far is the best book I am reading so that's why I chose this book for the book project. So far a girl named Laura Marlin was waiting her whole life for that hour her life "actually" began. In this special hour a man named Matron and a man named Robbie took her her uncle's house. In the last hour of the journey Laura had second thoughts about going to her uncle, but she knew that she couldn't turn her uncles down the way she could let puppy show-offers down. She couldn't turn back it was too late to do so. She tried to imagine her uncle but she couldn't imagine an image of her uncle in her mind.

I really like diary of wimpy kids because it is very attracting and I would rate this book 10/10

because it is man vs man and that it simple attracting book. 

The main characters are Rodrick Gregory (also called as Greg) mum and dad. 

Greg and Rodrick were left alone because mum and dad went for a night alone. Greg and Rodrick were supposed to take care of the house,but Rodrick the first second they left he called all his friends he knew for a party and locked Greg up in the basement so he wont distract them. At 3 am the doors were unlocked and all around you could only see trash and clothes and the parents would come at 7 am and there was a ton of work to do. When they were done there was 1 hour left and then they found that there was a note on the bathroom and it said "Rodrick''. It was in permanent marker so it was only matter of time.

It was solved by changing the doors and by ling.

 The book that I am reading is called "Charlotte's Web" the author of this book Is called E.B White. It was published 1952. The award of this book is called "Newberry honor". I chose to read this book because I like animal books and I know that Charlotte's web Is one of the good books for kids and people loved it. The main point of this book is that one morning a girl named Fern had breakfast and she saw threw thee window her dad holding an ax and then she though of the new born baby piglets so she fast ran out of the door trying to get the ax from her dad . She told her dad why are you going to the pigs pen and he didn't answer so she told him is it because of that one baby pig that is different then others so you want to kill him and is that like If I was a small baby you would kill me. So In some way I think that Is the important idea.
