Hello all, the book I read for this book report is 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief' by Rick Riordan. I read 375 pages out of 375. This book is based on Greek Mythology, so there are the Olympians, various monsters in Greek Myths, and other mythological creatures, etc.
There isn't an exact/specific setting of the book, because the characters in this story move around the U.S., so I think I can say that the setting is the U.S. The first setting of the book was Yancy Academy, a private boarding school for troubled kids, and the second was Camp Half-Blood, a camp for demigods, who are people who are half god and half human. Then the setting changes from different states of the U.S.
The time (of the setting) is not specifically known, because it doesn't say which year this happened in the book. But it said that this was during the summer in June. I think it is at least after the year 2000, because a lot of things that exist now (modern things) was in the book.
"They had this huge 3-D sim game where you build your own city, and you could actually see the holographic buildings rise on the display board." Page 261.
I can't say what the weather was exactly, because it kept on changing, and the weather in the book wasn't very sunny even though it was summer. The cause of this was the gods, because they were arguing and fighting because Zeus's master bolt was stolen, and they all accused Percy Jackson, the main character, of stealing it. That angered Poseidon, Percy's dad, and the god of the sea, so the gods caused natural disasters like storms and earthquakes.
"Hades yelled with such rage, the entire fortress shook and I knew it was not going to be a peaceful night in L.A." Page 318.
"In the distance, Los Angeles was on fire, plumes of smoke rising from neighborhoods all over the city. There had been an earthquake, all right, and it was Hades's fault." Page 319.
