The Wit of Tenali Raman

Hi,
The that I am reading is named "The wit of Tenali Raman". It is written by Devika Rangachari. The book has 100 pages. The main character in the book is Tenali Raman. He was born in Andhra Pradesh, India. Tenali was a clever poet. His mother was a widow, they lived with their uncle for a while, then soon Raman's uncle died when Raman was still very young. Tenali and his mother lived in extreme poverty and hardships. Soon, when Tenali was married to Mangamma. Shortly after Raman's wedding he decided to meet the king's priest to ask for a job at the Vijaynagra's court. He got the job as a jester in the court of King Krishna Devaraya, Tenali entertained the king and the courties. He had many enemies and defeated all by his cleverness.

The words that I didn't understand in the book were:

1. Apparition: Sentence: Raman stared at the apparition with wide eyes open.
Meaning: Ghost like image of a person

2. Vikatakavi: Sentence: You Vikatakavi, she said.
Meaning: Poem jester.

  1. Good work, Prachi. The book sounds really interesting and the summary was to the point and included key information. Maybe a new sentence including the two words would be helpful. Overall, good job.
