Swallows and Amazons

Swallows and Amazons
351 pages
Arthur Ransome

Swallows and Amazons is a book about 6 children camping on an island in a lake. Most of the story takes place on the island that the kids are camping on, it is quite small but big enough to live on. The land is green on the island with trees scattered around the place. The children named it Wild Cat Island. The lake that the island is located on is incredibly large with mountains/hills all around it. Around the lake there are different villages, towns and farms. One of the farms is where the children were staying for their holidays before they got permission to go off to the island. The time period that all this happened in was the summer of 1926.
The conflict in Swallows and Amazons is a man vs. man conflict. The conflict is in between the children and a man living on a houseboat near the Wild Cat Island. He keeps blaming the kids for messing with his boat, he thinks that they have robbed it and set of fireworks of on his roof. The fake information that the man (aka Captain Flint) has gathered spreads throughout the entire population of people living near the lake, Captain Flint has the entire community against the kids.
