The book I am reading is called “The Maze.” The author of the book is Will Hobbs. I have read 54 pages out of 200.
The main character is a boy named Rick who was raised by his grandmother. When he was 10 his grandmother died and he lived with different foster families. He was 14 when this story started. The conflict in the book is s man vs. himself because Rick is running away from his problems. He often feels angry his grandmother died.
The setting in the book starts in a courtroom where Rick was brought because he was caught throwing rocks on the stop sign. Unfortunately it was his second time at the court. The first time he was caught shoplifting two CDs. The setting moves to the Blue Canyon, a detention camp for kids that have committed a crime or did something bad. He was sent there to serve his six month punishment. He was informed he will be beaten to death so he had to run away. When Rick runs away from the detention camp the setting moves to the Maze, Canyonlands National Park in Utah. There he meets biologist Lon who was doing a release project of reintroducing six condors to the wild. The time of the book is present, the exact year was not mentioned, but it it October.
