Percy Jackson: (and) The Lightining Theif

The Lightning Thief
375/375 pages
Rick Riordan
Review by Shelly Ness

THIS SPOILS A LOT!

Percy, the protagonist faces obstacles such as losing his mother. When he was trying to enter camp half-blood, a minotaur caught his mother and she disappeared into gold dust.  He wanted his mother to come with him, but she said she can't pass, but he insisted so she came and the minotaur took her away and then she was put in the underground. Then Percy went on a quest to find Zeus's lightning bulb and he had to go to the underworld and he knew the quest was dangerous but he actually only wanted to come to save his mom from their. Then Luke stole Hades's helmet and Hades blamed it on Percy, and when Percy found and returned it, he got his mom back!

He also had to face that his friend betrayed him, and that monsters are attacking him (come on people, wouldn't you be scared?) and that's a problem for him too. So he went to camp half blood to be protected.

Another obstacle is that he also does not know who his real dad is! so he is trying to find that, also make new friends in half camp blood, and finally make a decision to stay with his mom for a year or to keep on going in camp half blood. In the end he though how his father will be proud with his choices, so he went to his mom cause Annabeth, his friend also took Percy's advise and went home.

A Long Walk to Water

The book that I have read for my third quarter book report is entitled A Long Walk to Water written by Linda Sue Park.  I have read all 120 pages of the book with joy.  Salva, the protagonist, faced many hardships through this story but I will write about the hardest he has gone through.  One of them is the war in Sudan which had torn up his family and damaged Salva's trust-ability and hope. To get through this hardship he had to just go on which was hard for him because he faced many horrible things.  Another hardship he when through was the fight at the Itang Refugee Camp in Ethiopia where only 2,500 people survived out of 10,000.  He was one of the lucky ones.  The fight was between the refugees and the Ethiopian army. He got through this hardship by using his best survival skills.  Those are the two major obstacles he had to go through and one thing you can do is to imagine you were in this situation. What would you do?

Thanks for reading!!!

The Throne of Fire

Author: Rick Riordan
# of pages read: 447/447

What are some of the obstacles that the protagonist is faced with? What do they do to overcome these obstacles?
Well, since I haven't done a blog post in while, the protagonists of my book are Sadie and Carter Kane. If any of you have read the first book( The Red Pyramid) and want to read this DO NOT read this post. Thank you. :)

There are many obstacles which Sadie and Carter go through but the hardest was losing 3 hours of precious time and almost stuck in the Duat (another form of reality, a rip in space) having to watch the end of the world. Confused? You should be. So their parents accidentally released the Egyptian gods and in the act their mother died. Years later, their father released 5 major gods, Set, Osiris, Horus, Isis, and Nefertiti. So now having released also Apophis the "giant snake of chaos" and trying to re-awaken Ra, the sun god who was forced into retirement once blackmailed by Isis when she wanted her husband to be King/pharaoh. Having awakened Ra but still in senile old form, they are stuck in the duat for they cannot enter the 8th gate/house unless its the eight hour and the world is about to end the next day. Overcoming this was very least expecting but once at the 7th house, ( they continued their journey still), they met their mom and dad and gambled 3 hours with Khonsu, the god of moon, a sneak, liar, insane. They beat him in senet an ,old forgotten game, but sacrificed unwillingly Bes's soul/ren, his memories, and being. Bes was the dwarf god and their protector while Bast, the cat goddess who used to be disguised as Sadie's cat once set free by her mother who died afterward, was gone for a "mission". Yeah.............that's about it. Scratching out all the details.

The gruesome tale of Yassen Gregorovich

Russian Roulette
by Anthony Horowitz
My book is a book called Russian Roulette and my main character is Yasha (Yassen) Gregorovich. There are many problems that he faces but the most important, the one that changed his life completely, was when Yasha was the only survivor of 324 people in his town, Estrov, of a deadly chemical gas weapon. His journey starts when his parents escape from a factory that produces an anthrax that was come upon by accident that was immune to all medications and much deadlier than anything the world had ever seen.
His parents come to him and tell him that his father had made an antidote for the anthrax but he only could make one and that they had decided to give it to him. Once they gave him the antidote they told him to go to a place named Kirsk and take a train to Moscow and find a friend at a university and then it marks the start of his journey to becoming the best assassin in the world.

I have read the book six times already and I am not bored of it yet. Great book but don't read it before the Alex Rider Series because it will ruin a perfectly amazing series of nine books.

DO NOT READ THIS BOOK BEFORE ALEX RIDER SERIES.

The Sixty-Eight Rooms

Oh My Gosh. So, I lost my other book report book so i am doing it on the first book in the series. The Sixty Eight Rooms ( I have read it)

So any ways, The title of the book is The Sixty Eight Rooms, The Author of the book is called Marianne Malone. There are 265 pages in the book. Some of the obstacles that my characters are faced with are that they can not shrink in front of everybody's, at first only one of them can get into the rooms and that their knowledge is short on the topic of Christina's key. I guess that you can't say that they have completely over come the first obstacle because they still sometimes have problems shrinking with no one knowing, but my characters, Ruthie and Jack just hide behind each other. For the second obstacle they learnt that if they are holding hands and are holding the key then they can shrink together. As for the third obstacle they have not finished getting over this obstacle in the first book, but they do find Duchess Christina's journal that explains part of the magic of how the key works, why the key works, and who made the key.

By the way, the Sixty-Eight rooms are a real thing. The rooms are in a museum in Chicago. IT IS A REAL THING! Search it up! It is a really cool thing.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

By J.K. Rowling.
The story is about a boy, Harry an orphan that he lived with his aunt and his uncle and their son Dudley.
When they go to the zoo for Dudley's birthday, Harry encounters a sympathetic snake. He's able to speak to the friendly reptile and somehow seems to have removed the glass from its cage, so it can go back to Brazil. After the trip to the zoo, mysterious letters start arriving for Harry. His uncle, Mr. Dursley, is furious and tries to keep them from Harry. But the letters keep arriving at such a rapid rate that, the evening before Harry's eleventh birthday, his uncle takes the whole family to a deserted island to escape all of the mail.
They can't hide for long, though; Hagrid shows up on Harry's birthday to deliver the letter, and the news that Harry's a wizard and has been admitted to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The next day he takes Harry to shop for school supplies at Diagon Alley, where Harry learns more about the wizarding world. He meets Malfoy and Hogwarts' new Defense against the Dark Arts professor, Quirrell. Harry also buys his first wand. Hagrid also picks up a mysterious package at Gringotts, the goblin bank.
Later that summer, Harry travels to Hogwarts. He has to take a train from platform nine and three-quarters, a magical platform! A family called the Weasleys helps him find his way, and he begins to make friends with one of their sons, Ron. He meets other first-year students like Hermione Granger and Neville Longbottom.
Upon their arrival at Hogwarts, the first years are sorted into one of four houses. Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Neville are all Gryffindors; Malfoy is a Slytherin. They begin taking all kinds of classes in magic. Harry dislikes the Potions teacher, Snape, who is unfair and kind of mean.
Harry learns that there was an attempted robbery at Gringotts bank, but nothing was taken. He guesses that the robbers were after what Hagrid picked up. Hagrid lets it slip that it has something to do with someone called Nicolas Flamel.
Malfoy becomes a big bully. During their first broom-flying lesson, he teases Neville. In defending Neville, Harry realizes he's a natural at flying. He's a superstar on a broomstick. Although Harry's broken rules by flying unsupervised, Professor McGonagall rewards him by putting him on the Gryffindor Quidditch team as Seeker
Later, Malfoy and Harry have a fight, and Malfoy challenges Harry to a wizard duel at midnight. Hermione and Ron accompany Harry, but Malfoy doesn't show – he was trying to get them in trouble for roaming the school while they should be in bed. As they hurry to get back to the dorm, the three friends stumble into a forbidden part of Hogwarts, where they bump into a three-headed monster dog. Luckily, they escape in the nick of time.
Harry and Ron aren't getting along with Hermione, but make up when they rescue her from a troll that's terrorizing the school. Though they get in trouble to taking on the troll alone, they also show their bravery. Now the three are inseparable.
As the first Quidditch match approaches, the three friends suspect Snape of wanting the package from Gringotts. During the game, Harry's broom acts weird and seems to be hexed. Harry's saved, but his friends blame Snape for putting him in danger.
During the winter break, Harry stays at Hogwarts and is given an invisibility cloak that once belonged to his dad. He uses it to sneak around the castle and discovers the Mirror of Erised in one of Hogwarts' many secret rooms. When he looks into the mirror he sees his parents, but when he shares the mirror with Ron, Ron sees himself as a hero. Dumbledore catches Harry at the mirror and explains that the mirror shows you your heart's desire. The wise old wizard then says he's going to take the mirror away because it's dangerous.
When classes resume after winter break, Harry, Ron, and Hermione figure out woh Flamel is an alchemist and the only person in the world to have the Sorcerer's Stone, which can provide immortality. They decide the Stone must be what was hidden at Gringotts and is now being guarded by the three-headed dog.
When not trying to solve the mystery of Nicholas Flamel, Harry is trying to balance Quidditch and school work. Gryffindor wins another Quidditch game, which Snape referees, and then Harry hears Snape and Quirrell arguing.
Meanwhile, Hagrid adopts a dragon, which is illegal. Ron, Hermione, and Harry have to convince him that's it's just not practical to raise a baby dragon, and find a way to smuggle the dragon out. Malfoy spies on them and tries to turn them in. When Harry and Hermione have successfully sent the dragon out in the middle of the night, they're caught by McGonagall along with Neville, who was trying to warn them, and Malfoy, who tattled and are given really big detention. Gryffindor moves to the last place in the house cup contest, and everyone is really mad at them.
Harry, Hermione, Neville, and Malfoy have detention with Hagrid in the forest at night. They are supposed to figure out what's killing unicorns and drinking their blood. Harry runs into some centaurs that see trouble ahead in the stars. They all realize that Voldemort is trying to return and that he's the one killing unicorns.
After the first-year exams, Harry, Ron, and Hermione talk with Hagrid and realize that he said too much about the Sorcerer's Stone to the mysterious stranger who gave him the dragon. Harry, Ron, and Hermione suspect that Snape is after it. That night they try to retrieve the Stone. Neville attempts to stop them, so they have to temporarily paralyze him with magic. They pass by the three-headed dog by playing it music, only to meet with another series of challenges. First, they're trapped by a Devil's Snare plant, then they have to catch a flying key, and then they have to play a life-size game of wizard chess. The chess game takes Ron out, leaving Harry and Hermione to solve a logic puzzle and drink potions to go forward. There's only enough for one, so Harry moves on and sends Hermione back for help.
To Harry's surprise, he runs into Quirrell, not Snape like he thought he would. Quirrell reveals that Voldemort is living in him like a parasite. He tries to use Harry to get the Stone. He makes Harry use the Mirror of Erised, and Harry finds himself holding the Stone and lying about it. Quirrell/Voldemort tries to kill Harry, but when he touches Harry, he burns. Harry blacks out when Harry comes to, he's in the infirmary with Dumbledore, and Quirrell is dead. Dumbledore explains that Harry defeated Quirrell/Voldemort through the protection of his mother's love. He also mentions that the Stone has been destroyed.

Later, at the end-of-year banquet, Dumbledore praises Ron, Hermione, Harry, and Neville for the parts they played in defeating Quirrell. He rewards them by giving Gryffindor house tons of points. They win the house cup for Gryffindor, and even pass all of their exams. Then, they leave Hogwarts for the summer and part ways at the train station. Though it stinks to be returning to the Dursleys, Harry explains how much easier his time with them will be now that he can do magic.

Percy Jackson: (and) The Lightning Thief

The Lightning Thief
375/375 pages
Rick Riordan
Review by Shelly Ness

The book is mainly about Percy, Annabeth and Grover who go on a "quest" all around America to find Zeus's great Lighting Bolt and the thief who stole it. All gods accuse Percy Jackson but someone else stole it and they are tricking Percy! This is a very long story of who and why and how. But... I have time!

WARNING: if you want to read the book please do not read this because it spoils everything!

So the someone(s) who tricked Percy was Luke, Ares and Kronos. Luke wanted to be a bigger hero than anyone! but in a bad, terrible way! Kronos is the father of Zeus, Poseidon and Hades.
Zeus decided to cut him off the family and he sliced him up and so did Kronos do to his dad. Kronos is getting more powerful (even though he's in hell) and soon he will rule again and destroy. Luke, who is Percy's, Annabeth's and Grover's friend betrayed them and listened to Kronos. Kronos told him to steal the bolt and also, Hades's helmet to make him invisible. On
the way, Ares (the great god of war) threatened him to beat him up to flames or to return the bolt to the god. Luke offered him to let him go, because this can start a war! siblings fighting! Ares liked it! So he let Luke go and he said its his idea. One of them hid the bolt in Percy's bag that Ares gave him.

Luke gave Percy magic shoes and they were cursed. Percy was supposed to wear them and fall in the pit of Kronos and die in the underworld! Instead, Grover wore them and it messed up, he got a few scratches but he didn't die! So in the end Percy had a fight with Ares and Ares lost.

Percy returned the bolt and his friends and him got back to " Camp Half-Blood". There, Luke (they didn't know Luke was bad at that time!) invited Percy for coke and some training in the woods (faraway from people/half-bloods/satyrs/half-horses) and he tried to kill him. He gave him hints about who helped Ares and what happened. Percy was surprised! It was Luke behind it! Then, Luke tried to kill Percy with a scorpion. Chiron (half-horse trainer and teacher) saved him and he woke up in the camp's hospital!

Then Grover went to search for Pan, Annabeth went home, Percy met his dad when he gave Zeus the bolt. Then Percy's mom who disappeared in the underworld came back when Percy gave Hades the Helmet and also she got rid of stupid, old Smelly Gabe! (with the head of Medusa that Percy cut off!) got money and sold his statue! Percy cam back home for 7th grade and soon.... he is coming back to "Camp-Half Blood" for more adventure.....

Hatchet

Hi guys!
I'm writing again about the awesome book that I'm reading right now called "Hatchet". The author is Gary Paulsen and I read 184 pages out of 195 pages. I've almost finish it and it was an awesome book!
It was full of action and never got boring. Brian had a tough chance to learn how to survive in wild. I mean he never took a course to learn how to survive he just did his best and he managed to do it pretty well. He learned a lot of new stuff and he became another person. He told himself that he start a new life after the crush.
I recommend this book to every person that is looking for a good book and a book full of adventure and things that might help you one day. I really want to thank to Ms. Stanisic because she was the one that recommended this book to me. I really encourage you to read this book!
Hope you enjoyed!

Read it.

I am reading, The Broken Circle.

In this book, the sequel to the other book I read for my project there are all the same characters. Of course, you expected that. There are walking statues, or, shall I say, hopping?

So, the friends go to rescue their run-away-friend-in-need, and come across an ever-lasting staircase. There is water on it, and it is so heavy that they fall off and one friend gets hurt really badly.

That's all I have read so far, and I am left at a cliff hanger, that is kind of scary. Because I don't know what's going to happen to the hurt character.

Conflict of Stuck On Earth

Hello everyone,

As you all know I was reading a book obviously called Stuck on Earth by David Klass since I already wrote a couple blogs about this book already but this one in particular is about the main conflict of the book. But I have read 127/227 pages which is okay, but I will have to read more in the future.

The conflict of the book is how Ketchvar III is under a lot of pressure since other aliens need this planet for their own usage, and he has to examine Earth and how humans treat it. At first the decision was really easy, since Everyone treats him horribly (for no apparent reason) so it was very tempting to make a quick judgement and annihilate the human race. But later on in this amazing book, Ketchvar meets a very sympathic human being which is very kind to him. He wonders if he should still make the same decision and that;s about where i am up to in the story!

I think that the conflict will be resolved by Ketchvar III will do what is right and won't annihilate the population of planet Earth, but will spare it. Influenced by the really kind person that he met.

Thank you for reading everyone, and have a nice day.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief - Post 3

Hi all, I read 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief' written by Rick Riordan for my book report, and I finished reading the book (all 375 pages out of 375).

(Okay, I am going to write an introduction even though I wrote them already in my previous posts.)
As you might know already, this book (actually the whole series and the 2nd series) is based on Greek Mythology, so there are the Olympians, the 12 main gods of Greek Myths (there are a lot of minor gods too), and monsters and other mythological creatures. There are three main characters: Percy Jackson (a son of Poseidon and the most important character), Annabeth Chase (a daughter of Athena and who is really smart), and Grover Underwood (a satyr: a half-man, half-goat). They go on a quest to retrieve the stolen lightning bolt of Zeus, the god of lightning and one of the Olympians, because Zeus accuses Percy of stealing his lightning bolt and Percy needs to prove that he is not guilty. They have to retrieve it by the summer solstice, which is June 21st. The three main characters move around the United States to find who stole the lightning bolt and to retrieve it.
I think type of the main conflict of this book is 'Man vs. Man', because the main conflict isn't really any other type than that (they fight monsters mostly). But I am not so sure because the main conflict has a lot to do with time because as I said before, the characters have to return the lightning bolt by the summer solstice. So I think the type of the main conflict might also be 'Man vs. Time', if there is a type like that.
I think the main conflict of this book is retrieving the lightning bolt because that is what the whole quest and the book is about. I explained above what the quest was about. There are obstacles on the quest that prevents the main characters in succeeding in the quest, for example: various ancient and dangerous monsters (for example: Chimera, Echidna, etc.) that attack them (the three main characters).
There are other small conflicts like fighting monsters, etc., but they are not the main conflict. There are some big conflicts too, which are visiting Hades, the lord of the dead because it is very likely that he is evil and he has stolen the lightning bolt, fighting Ares, the god of war and finding out everything about the incident/quest/stolen lightning bolt (like who stole the lightning bolt, why this happened, etc.), and going back to Olympus to return the bolt to Zeus.
The conflict is resolved when Percy and his friends return the lightning bolt to Zeus and the Olympians on Mount Olympus. Then all of the gods decide not to kill Percy and stop thinking that he stole the lightning bolt.

The Princess Bride: Conflict

The book I am currently reading is called  " The Princess Bride" by S.Morgenstern, and revised by William Goldman. I am on page 130 out of 328. As you all might know the conflict of "The Princess Bride" is that the protagonist Buttercup is forced to marry Prince Humperdink after the death of her true love Westley. The prince decided upon her as she is the prettiest women in the kingdom and as he needs a bride to give birth to his son that will be king after his death. Along the way she is also kidnapped by mercenary and his henchman and than rescued by a pirate. I won't give away anymore of the story as most of you already know what will happen next since we all watched the movie.

Hobbit

Hello,
For my book report I am reading the Hobbit by J.J. Tolkien and I am on page 120. The main conflict in the Hobbit is that the Dwarfs want to destroy Smaugh the dragon, they have to go through the mountains, forests, towns etc...So far the dwarfs are almost half way there, they were attacked by trolls and now they are in a cave full of goblins. They have to go across the mountain but it is a long journey, on which they meet all kinds of creepy, scary and dangerous creatures.I think the conflict will be resolved when the dwarfs, Gandalf and the Hobbit pass the mountain and succeed to kill Smaugh the dragon!

The Dragonfly Pool- by Eva Ibbotson

Hai Gayzz

Currently I am on page 223 of the Dragonfly Pool (the book I'm doing for my book project, of course.) It's a great book so far and I'm sad that I've nearly finished D:

Well, anyway, STOP HERE (well not right here just in a sentence or so :) . I'm pretty much going to be telling the whole story away, so you may not want to read the following few sentences so if you want to comment, just comment on this part, if that's even possible...

So the main conflict is basically about the Prince of Bergania who is obviously the son of the King. Wow. As I said in my last blog post, he is extremely lonely. He meets Tally, the protagonist, in the Dragonfly Pool, the beautiful pool (small lake) covered with glistening dragonflies, hence the name...
Tally finds it awful that Karil can't be free. I really don't want to spoil the book, so close your eyes for a few seconds (if that even makes any sense) Once the king is shot by the antagonists, Karil is in great danger. If he stays behind he will definitely be imprisoned and probably even be killed. Tally, her friends from England and other foreigners from other countries (Yugoslavia is one of them) cook up a plan. When they leave they will disguise Karil as one of them and he will not be noticed in a crowd of children all wearing the same thing. He will leave amongst them, come to England with them and hopefully live a life, happily, with them there.

Somehow I doubt that is possible. The chances are the horrible Nazis will find him, or his governess won't give up tracking him down because she feels it's her 'duty'. But, even if they do take him away, I think that Tally, friends and the brilliant Mateo will manage to save him and probably a lot of other people too. Hopefully he won't be killed, murdered or anything else along the way, and hopefully neither will Tally and her friends...

The Dragonfly Pool <3

Dear sixth graders,

I am reading Firestars Quest by Erin Hunter. I am on page four hundred and sixty out of five hundred and something. The main conflict in my book... now there are many conflicts in my book but the MAIN, MAIN one is RATS! They are trying to kill Firestar and his friends for territory. The rats want ALL the territory to themselves. Believe it or not, these rats are actually clever and can speak cat! SO it is tough to beat these wise rats. The part I am at now is when Firestar and his clan are trying to kill the rats! You know what that means, a battle! There will be a battle between Firestar and his clan and the rats! I hope none of the cats die. I also hope they win their rightful territory! There is only one way the conflict can be resolves for them. They need to defeat the rats!
I hope to finish the book by tomorrow or the day after.

I hope this sounds interesting! I hope you read the book too!

A Long Walk to Water

The book that I have read for my third quarter book report is entitled A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park.  I have read all 120 pages of the book.  The main conflict of the story is the war in Sudan.  It is the main conflict because it effects Salva and many other people to move from one place to another with no food or water and ending up in death for some.  Throughout the journey he made to Rochester, New York.  He had to go through many conflicts like the attack in Ethiopia, the war in Sudan, and the surroundings on their journey.  One way that I thought the conflicts could be resolved it to make a way to have peace.  That is exactly what happened in the book.  He made water pumps that provided water with many different tribes.

This is sort of what it looked like when Salva was fleeing from Sudan.

Ghost Cannoe By Will Hobbs

Hi everyone, I haven't yet got to the conflict of the story so I can't write about the details of the story. So the book is called as you can see Ghost Canoe it was written by Will Hobbs. I don't know how the conflict goes but what I do know is that its about this boy called Nathan. He at the beginning of the story has a tough life because his mother gets very ill and it keeps on getting worse and worse that she might die. They live in a small house hoping to live. The boy and his father have to take turns to watch while his father was going to get some rest. Then they switch but they had to take care of the warm light thingy so the boiler stayed warm. That was the only thing that could keep them warm. It is very hard for them to watch because the wind would blow and there would be a very little chance of saving the boiler.

Thats it for now i need to read more!!!
Bye!

The Golden Compass

The Golden Compass

By: Philip Pullman

I have read 190 pages of the 399 that make The Golden Compass. The main conflict in the Golden Compass is that Roger, Lyra's best friend and the kitchen boy, gets kidnapped by the Gobblers. The Gobblers are these creatures who kidnap children, that's about all anybody knows about them. The people in Oxford could only agree upon their name and nothing else. Since Lyra moved in with Mrs. Coulter she has heard nothing about the Gobblers, but everyone and a while., but soon forgets about him again. I think that Lyra will find Roger on a trip up into the North, and that he will be with the Gobblers. I also have a prediction on what the Gobblers might be doing to the children they are kidnapping, I belive that they are separating the children from their daemons, and turning them into slaves.

THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING-LOTR

AUTHOR: J.R.R TOLKIEN
NUMBER OF PAGES: 150/423

Ok! I am planning to finish this book, during the February break. It is pretty good so far. I give it a great 9/10. The action is definitely picking up, and its going to become dynamic! Pippin, Sam and Frodo are on their way to Mount Doom, to destroy the One Ring. The 3 leave the Shire with a huge task on there backs. But things have not been so good so far. The crew are going to the Elven city of Rivendell, to discuss the making of the Fellowship of The Ring. They are nearly killed during their first day by what they call Black-Riders or Nazguls. They also see a Elven group marching through the forest. They go through the forest, and etc..... Now, you are probably asking who are these "Black Riders"? These are also known as Ringwraiths. These where old Man (Race of Men) kings, who where corrputed by the power of their own Rings, and where imprisoned by Sauron. They are his most loyal and powerful servants. In the meanwhile, Gandalf is tricked by Saruman, and imprisoned and he somehow escapes with the help of his loyal friends the good old Eagles. Saruman was a wizard, that used to be against Sauron, and he was a great friend of Gandalf. Here is the main conflict of the story:

Long ago, during the Second age (Now its the third), Elven-Smiths crafted 19 rings, that where given to the free people, the Dwarves, Men and Elves. 3 where given to the immortal Elves, 7 to the craftsmen Dwarves, and 9 to the powerful men. In the land of Mordor (The evil place) Sauron, the Dark Lord was crafting 1 Ring, to rule them all. He put all of his hatred, and power into this ring. With this he attacked. Most of the free cities fell, but only some resisted. A so called "Last alliance of Men and Elves" fought there way into Mordor, and defeated Sauron and killed him. Isildur, the Men Prince had taken the ring into his possesion. Elrond, the Elven king urged on to Isildur to destroy the ring but he refused. Years later, an Orc skirmish killed Isildur, and the ring was lost in a small pond. Deagol, a Hobbit found it 2500 years later. Smeagol known as Gollum, killed Deagol, because he was corrupted by the ring. Many years later, during Bilbo's quest to kill Smaug, he fell into a cave, where Gollum had been hiding in the Misty Mountains. He had taken it from him. After he returned to Bag End in the Shire, many years later he gave the ring to young Frodo Baggins. One day, Gandalf told him he needed to destroy it, because Sauron is searching for it, and with it he will destroy middle earth. So he must destroy the Ring in the fires of Mount Doom!

TUNE IN FOR ANOTHER POST!

The Lost Hero...

HI guys,
I have read all 554\554 pages of it, the name of my book is part of Heroes of Olympus series the book is called The Lost Hero.
Here is a picture of the book:
The start of the main conflict in the story is when Jason woke up in the school bus not knowing who or were he was.  He was holding hands with some girl and a guy was telling him some joke. It turned out that the girl\Piper was his girlfriend and the boy\Leo was his best friend. When they got to the camp for halfbloods they found out that Piper's and Leo's minds have been tricked by the mist to think that they have known Jason for a long time, but actually they have just met him today for the first time.
The main conflict is when they are going to get Jason's memory back because it was taken away by Hera the queen of gods, because Jason is a peace offering... Also Pipers father is tied up and hidden away somewhere with a giant threatening piper that if she doesn't kill Jason and Leo he will kill her father and also Percy Jackson had gone missing... So as you can see\read it is a book with a lot of action going on but in the end i predict that Jason's appearance and Percy's disappearance have got something to do with each other. Maybe Percy is at some other camp with no memory.

Artemis Foul

Eoin Colfer
90/277

The main conflict right now is that Artemis imprisoned captain short  to get more information about the fairies and their gold . Aremis is the represantant of mud people and short represents the undr  groung people. As soon as captain Root found out that miss short is in Artemis's hands he starts to plan to save Short and the whole under ground world.

I think that Artemis is going to get the gold from the under ground world and he is going to ruin the under ground. I also think that artemis is going to steal the advanced technology to improve the world.

Crossing the wire!

WILL HOBBS
pg. 75.
The main conflict of my story is that Victor (the protagonist) has had some family problems like his dad has died in a very sad way. So Victor is like the "Man of the house" so he decides since its going to  become winter and his family cant farm anymore, victor decides that he will go and get a job, as his father used to do. Victors father died because of his job. So now victor would send the money he earns to his family. Like his father would do. First of all, i think that Victors family would get enough money to live in El Norte. Then they would be happy. But one more thing, is that Victors best friend left the country a few days before Victor left. ( He left with his mothers permission). Now the parents of Victors best friend are looking for him. Right now in the book. He is in LOAD of trouble.

Bye! See you next time!

Conflict in Swallows and Amazons

For this book project, I read the book Swallows and Amazons. I have finished the book, all
Anyway, there are a few conflicts in this book, if not huge dragon in monsters, like most adventures. Swallows and Amazons isn't that much of a dramatic book, but there a few conflicts and problems.

In this book there are four children, going on an adventure to an island in the Lake District. which, they believe is deserted. You might think that this would cause conflict along the line of Man vs. Nature, but since these children are remarkably well prepared, and seem to know a lot about boating, this isn't the problem. They just have a few Man vs Man conflicts with other people who are.... associated (is that the right word) with the island.

First of all there is the problem of the Blackett sisters, also known as the the Amazons. The Swallows (the four children) and the Amazons are two opposing groups, who both believe that Wild Cat island (the island in the Lake District) is their island. They argue over who should have the flagship of the island, so organize a 'war' - the first one to capture the others boat gets the flagship, and it is basically their island. I am not going to tell you who wins this war or how, but this is one of the main conflicts, or adventures in this book.

Then there is the long standing conflict between the Swallows, the Amazons and Captain Flint. Captain Flint is actually the uncle or the Amazon pirates, so they play practical jokes on him. Captain Flint thinks that it was the Swallows, and he keeps on sending messages to them, and telling other people that they had done it. Then, an actual crime is committed, and he blames the Swallows, who are not the real criminals. To prove this, the Swallows actually have to find out who did it.

I love Swallows and Amazons, and I found it really interesting. I really recommend you read it!

The Edge chronicles.

The Title of the book is The Edge Chronicles. There are two authors they are Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell.I read 75 out of 277. The main conflict of the book currently is that Twig has to find out what kind of creature is he.Since his mother told him that he is not a wood troll. So he decides to find out he really is. I think that he is going to find out that he is sky pirate. The sky pirates are people that go throw air.

Percy Jackson : (and) The Lightning Thief

The Lightning Thief
107/375 pages
Rick Riordan
Review by Shelly Ness

The main conflict is kind of how Percy goes to "camp half-bood" and meets new people. He meets Annabeth and she and Chiron (weird half-horse guy) talk to him about how some people don't make it to the camp and outside it is very dangerous for half-bloods or half-gods (same thing, whatever you prefer to call them) and Percy and Annabeth are trying to find out who is his father, what god. Percy killed a Minotaur and he doesn't think its a big deal but everyone is like "Oh my! Wow!". Percy and Annabeth heard Chiron and Grover talking about something about summer solstice and they don't know what it is.

I'm not really sure how the ending will be, But i think this summer solstice thing is probably dangerous. They are also having "Capture the Flag" and Annabeth wants to be with Percy in the team. In her mind she said maybe Percy is the one for her. I also think aside to the dangerous summer solstice thing maybe Annabeth and Percy will end up together... Percy is also missing his mom in the underworld, maybe he will try to get her back.

Mark of Athena | By Rick Riordan | Conflict

The conflict is continued without the whole series. Now, in this book there are two main conflicts:
1# Annabeth has to go on a solo quest, following the mark of Athena that her mother gave her. She has to navigate her way through centuries old underground paths that lead to Athena's greatest enemy: Arachne. She is the goddess of spiders and she challenged Athena to a weaving contest. It is said that Athena won, and turned Arachne into a giant spider. The romans took all the greek gods and made equivalents of them, Athena's was Minerva but Minerva wasn't a goddess of war strategy, just a craft goddess. And Both of her forms hated romans for that. The romans took the statue of her, the Athena Parthenos, and put in the underground paths, gave it to Arachne. Athena and Minerva want revenge so, they choose a child of Athena every now and then to follow the mark of Athena (a golden coin of Athena's likeness) that is charmed to show them the way to the Athena Parthenos and help them on their quest to defeat Gaea (mother earth). Annabeth has to make Arachne weave a giant chinese hand cuff, tricking her into thinking that it is art to be displayed on Mount Olympus and try to get her to crawl into it.
2# Get to Nico Di-Angelo before he dies, he is trapped by two giants. Each giant was created to oppose a god. These twin giants, Otis and Ephialtes, where supposed to destroy Dionysus/Bacchus and they capture Nico in a bronze jar without any food water or anything else.
There are much bigger problems that stretch through the whole book, but those are the main issues in just this book.
I think a way for Annabeth to trick arachne into getting in the webbed trap is to crawl in and make Arachne come after, thinking that Annabeth is taking away the documents to get her art into Olympus. A way to beat Otis and Ephialtes is to challenge them and lead them into a trap of some sort or ask for Bacchus/Dionysus's help to defeat them, since he had defeated them before.
I have finished the book.

Thanks for reading!

What is the main conflict of your story?

My book is: 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea

The main conflict is between Capetian  Nemo and "that hated nation," whose ships he rams and sinks. In recent years, people have read in Jules Verne's publisher's files that the "hated nation" was Russia, and that Capt. Nemo was a Pole who was avenging his country for suppressing Polish uprisings in 1830 and 1848. The publisher urged Verne to leave that part out of the book so not to offend readers anyway.

Hello once again!!!!
So this post will be about the conflict of my book.
I think that the conflict in my book is that Ferus Olin the second to last Jedi living, is captured be the imperial troopers, or you know the Empire.  So some facts that I thought would help me guess how it might be resolved, is the following:
Obi-wan met a boy that steels things...this boy stole some prisoner suits and one key to enter restricted areas to some people, like a prison.  And so my hypothesis is that Obi-wan and the boy will use the key to enter a prison and the suits so that guards think that they are prisoners.  After that they will find Ferus Olin and rescue him.

The Dragonfly Pool - by Eva Ibbotson

I am currently on page 195 of my book. The protagonist in my novel is called Tally. I believe she is 12 years old. It doesn't explain Tally's physical looks or feautures in the books but the way I imagine her is as follows; she has red, very curly hair. She has freckles. She usually has a big smile on her face unless her father is unhappy. She is pretty average height for her age.
She gets along very well with the people at her school. She was quite blatant, but in a good way. She is very bright and the opposite of selfish. She is very worried about her father's welfare, but a cheerful girl at the same time. She cares for everyone, however much she dislikes them.

The antaganist in this book is Hitler. You of course know who he is. He was the dictator of Germany during WWII, which is going on in the book the whole time.Although Tally doesn't fully realize it, he is the cause of Tally moving away from her family and going to boarding school. Not because she is a Jew (she isn't) but because he was the one attacking London. Therefore, as the procedure went, the children had to leave London, for safety. That included Tally. He is a vicious man, who although had black hair himself, hated all those with it and created a society with just blonde hair. Tally does not experience his injustice until later in the book, when she sees the Nazis taking away the German kids from the festival they go to, just because they are socializing with the other kids.

The Prince of Bergania is a character that is introduced in the middle of the book. He is a very lonely boy, with nothing much to do. His days are packed with prize-givings, tea-shop openings and who knows what else. He is dying to be alone with his father and have the same magical experiences he had when his mother was alive. But, now that his English mother is dead, the king seems busier than ever and has know to be with his son. Little does the prince know, his father wants to be with him just as much as he does.

THE HAUNTED
by NIki Valentine

Page 256 / 405

Protagonists: Sue, Martin

Sue: Nice and kind, patient but also excited, not that brave, I'm imagining her with brown eyes and kinda long brownish hair, pretty (according to the book), kinda shy.
Martin: Brave, nice, wants to help everybody, tall (according to the book), brown hair.

Unfortunately the book didn't give more examples of personality and physical treats so this is all I know so far...

Antagonist: Well, I still didn't get to the point when it says who is an antagonist, this is how the story goes...
Sue and Martin are lost in the woods because of the storm and bad weather, they thought there was also somebody else but they weren't so sure so they examined the woods...then the last thing I read was: "Are we really alone?!" So, I'm not really sure who or what is going to come from the woods and attack them but I know somebody or something will. I hope I'll get to that part soon!
