The Dragonfly Pool - by Eva Ibbotson

I am currently on page 195 of my book. The protagonist in my novel is called Tally. I believe she is 12 years old. It doesn't explain Tally's physical looks or feautures in the books but the way I imagine her is as follows; she has red, very curly hair. She has freckles. She usually has a big smile on her face unless her father is unhappy. She is pretty average height for her age.
She gets along very well with the people at her school. She was quite blatant, but in a good way. She is very bright and the opposite of selfish. She is very worried about her father's welfare, but a cheerful girl at the same time. She cares for everyone, however much she dislikes them.

The antaganist in this book is Hitler. You of course know who he is. He was the dictator of Germany during WWII, which is going on in the book the whole time.Although Tally doesn't fully realize it, he is the cause of Tally moving away from her family and going to boarding school. Not because she is a Jew (she isn't) but because he was the one attacking London. Therefore, as the procedure went, the children had to leave London, for safety. That included Tally. He is a vicious man, who although had black hair himself, hated all those with it and created a society with just blonde hair. Tally does not experience his injustice until later in the book, when she sees the Nazis taking away the German kids from the festival they go to, just because they are socializing with the other kids.

The Prince of Bergania is a character that is introduced in the middle of the book. He is a very lonely boy, with nothing much to do. His days are packed with prize-givings, tea-shop openings and who knows what else. He is dying to be alone with his father and have the same magical experiences he had when his mother was alive. But, now that his English mother is dead, the king seems busier than ever and has know to be with his son. Little does the prince know, his father wants to be with him just as much as he does.
