The book is mainly about Percy, Annabeth and Grover who go on a "quest" all around America to find Zeus's great Lighting Bolt and the thief who stole it. All gods accuse Percy Jackson but someone else stole it and they are tricking Percy! This is a very long story of who and why and how. But... I have time! 

WARNING: if you want to read the book please do not read this because it spoils everything!

So the someone(s) who tricked Percy was Luke, Ares and Kronos. Luke wanted to be a bigger hero than anyone! but in a bad, terrible way! Kronos is the father of Zeus, Poseidon and Hades.
 Zeus decided to cut him off the family and he sliced him up and so did Kronos do to his dad. Kronos is getting more powerful (even though he's in hell) and soon he will rule again and destroy. Luke, who is Percy's, Annabeth's and Grover's friend betrayed them and listened to Kronos. Kronos told him to steal the bolt and also, Hades's helmet to make him invisible. On
the way, Ares (the great god of war) threatened him to beat him up to flames or to return the bolt to the god. Luke offered him to let him go, because this can start a war! siblings fighting! Ares liked it! So he let Luke go and he said its his idea. One of them hid the bolt in Percy's bag that Ares gave him. 


Luke gave Percy magic shoes and they were cursed. Percy was supposed to wear them and fall in the pit of Kronos and die in the underworld! Instead, Grover wore them and it messed up, he got a few scratches but he didn't die! So in the end Percy had a fight with Ares and Ares lost. 


Percy returned the bolt and his friends and him got back to " Camp Half-Blood". There, Luke (they didn't know Luke was bad at that time!) invited Percy for coke and some training in the woods (faraway from people/half-bloods/satyrs/half-horses) and he tried to kill him. He gave him hints about who helped Ares and what happened. Percy was surprised! It was Luke behind it! Then, Luke tried to kill Percy with a scorpion. Chiron (half-horse trainer and teacher) saved him and he woke up in the camp's hospital! 

Then Grover went to search for Pan, Annabeth went home, Percy met his dad when he gave Zeus the bolt. Then Percy's mom who disappeared in the underworld came back when Percy gave Hades the Helmet and also she got rid of stupid, old Smelly Gabe! (with the head of Medusa that Percy cut off!) got money and sold his statue! Percy cam back home for 7th grade and soon.... he is coming back to "Camp-Half Blood" for more adventure.....
