Protagonist and antagonist Red Badge of Courage

The protagonist is the Union army, they are filled with determination to keep the Union together.  The Union Army is the North of america during the Civil War the south of America during the civil war is the Confederates.   Think of it this way the south was trying to secede from the north. The north was trying to keep the USA together while the south was trying to make their own independent country.  I the south ha won the civil war there would be the Confederate USA and the Union USA. Which would be strange         The main protagonist is a private called Henry Fleming. He flees from battle and he came back to his regiment and tried to make to make up for what he did. After he fled he was filled with guiltiness for what he did. Henry is strong, smart and very wise.  He knows what to do.  The antagonist is the Rebels or the confederate. They are often described as ruthless, brave ,well trained and bloody.  I would describe the confederates smart, quick and very good at strategy.
