Holes By: Louis Sachar

The book Holes won the john newberry medal which is a medal which is given away by the
american literature for children a division of the american library association the award was given to the person who showed the most distinguished contribution to the american literature for children. The man that wrote this award winning novel was a man named Louis Sacher he was born on March
20, 1954 he is known for his book Holes which he has followed with two companion novels. Holes won the 1998 U.S national book award for young peoples literature. and the 1999 newberry medal for the most distinguished contribution to american literature for children. He grew up happy in a normal suburban family but did not become interested in reading till he was in high school. He became inspired by the work of J.D Salinger and Kurt Vonnegut. Louis transferred to different colleges befor he began to work at an elementary school until he eventually became a writer.
