The book "Hoot" has 292 pages and is written by Carl Hiaasen. This book is about a boy called Roy which lived in many places mostly cities and countries like Detroit, Michigan. On the first day of school when he was on the bus he was bullied by the biggest bully in school, Dan. While he was being bullied he saw a strange little boy running as fast as he can without shoes. Roy was verry confused he asked everyone why he was runinng or is there another school near by, but nothing, there was no logic. After some while Roy was really interested why was that boy running and who was he. One morning Roy saw the boy outside the bus again and quickly started toward the bus door, but something grabbed his neck. It was Dana he was choking Roy there were many rules on the bus and Roy was about to break them, he punched Dana on his nose and ran out of the bus and after the boy. He ran through sprinklers, lawns and bushes the boy was heading toward a construction area guards yelled after him but caught only Roy. The next day he was called to the vise principles office for breaking Dana's nose on the bus. The vice principles saw the hand marks on  Roys neck from the choking and forbid him to go on the school bus for two weeks.

Carl Hiaasen's book has recieved the "Newbwerry Honor" medal because he gave many contributions to Americas literature for kids.
