The Slave Dancer-Awards

The book, The Slave Dancer, by Paula Fox, has a John Newbery Medal. The John Newbery Medal is given for the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.
It is presented by the Association for Library Service to Children, and the American Library Association. The Slave Danger is about a thirteen-year-old boy named Jessie Bollier , who gets kidnapped and frown aboard on a slave ship, called The Moonlight. On the ship, Jessie has to play his fife while slaves, who were also captured, danced to be fit.
