An orphan called Tom lives in Missouri, St. Petersburg with his Aunt Polly and his brother after the death of Tom's mother. Tom skips school and when he returns he sneaks through the window. At that moment, Aunt Polly sees Tom is sneaking through the window. Jim tricks Tom. Another beautiful day at Missouri, St. Petersburg but Tom is not going to enjoy it because he's got a big bucket of paint to paint a big fence. Tom tries to get Jim to paint the fence for him, promising him to get water from the well in return. His buddy Roger comes to see Tom and tries to get attention from him. Tom finishes with his paint work and he goes to tell Aunt Polly his good work.
