The Island of Blue Dolphins is a true story about a girl called Karana (that is her secret name) or Won-a-pa-lie (the name every one calls her.Won-a-pa-lie means the girl with the long black hair. She was living happily on the island,twenty leagues away from Santa Barbara,in a village called Ghalas-at,the only village on the island.However, once the Aluts (Russians) come everything changes.
