Summer: is a girl who
is twelve years old and she has been living with her Uncle Ob and Aunt May for
six years since her parents died. Summer is sad in the book because
her Aunt May has now died and she loved her so much. Summer is afraid that
something will also happen to her Uncle Ob because then she will be all alone
in the world. Summer has blonde hair on
her head.
Uncle Ob: Also misses May very much and feels his spirit
around him all the time and he wants to contact her. Uncle Ob and Summer goes to Putnam County with
a strange boy called Cletus Underwood and search for some sign of May. Uncle Ob
has no hair at all on his head.
Cletus Underwood: is
a strange boy from school who reads about someone who could help him do that. Cletus
Underwood Cletus Underwood likes to collect things like spoons buttons and
chips. Summer thinks that he is a crazy boy at school. He has black hair on his
head and he wears a hat.
