The Slave Dancer-Theme

The theme of my book is prejudice. People shouldn't judge somebody because of their skin color, their religion or their beliefs.
Examples of prejudice:
1) In the book, Jessie is told that he is to go to the upper deck of The Moonlight and is asked to play his fife. When Jessie asks Benjamin Stout why the slaves have to dance to his music, the man replies, telling Jessie that black people are "creatures" that can not act like humans, and they have "weird" beliefs. Jessie disagrees to Benjamin's opinion.
2) When the slaves got their meals, Purvis told Jessie: "Some of them think we eat them. They think that the first meal was only to fool them. When they see we intend to keep on feeding them, they grow quite cheerful." (Page 67) But when Jessie looked around, he saw no cheer. "I saw no cheer. The adults ate mournfully, the food dribbling from their lips as though their spirits were too low to keep their jaws firm." (Page 67)
As you can see, the crew thinks that the slaves are "creatures", and the slaves are frightened of the crew.
