DIVERGENT

Divergent

The book I am reading this week is called Divergent by Veronica Roth
Pages read 440/487

Every year, 17-years-olds have a test called a simulation. They are placed in an alternative universe and trap them with their worst fears. When Beatrice Prior goes into the simulation, she comes out with multiple choices for factions (places where the people live). There are five: Candor (the honest) Abnegation (the selfless) Dauntless (the brave) Amity (the peaceful) and Erudite (the intelligent). In the first test, she is presented with cheese and a sword. A woman tells her to pick one, but Beatrice refuses. The cheese and sword disappear, and in their place stands a dog. The next one is where she is placed in a box, starting to fill with water. She keeps reminding herself that it isn't real, and in the end, she breaks the box. The third and final test..... well, you're going to have to find out for yourself.
After she finishes, the woman that gave her the test said that the results were "inconclusive" and she has three options for the Choosing Ceremony the next day: Erudite, Abnegation (the faction where she already lives) or Dauntless.
Beatrice is different.
She is not Abnegation
She is not Candor
She is not Amity
She is not Erudite
She is not even Dauntless, even though that's the faction she chose
She is Divergent.
And her name is not Beatrice anymore.
It's Tris.
The characters are: Tris Prior, Four, Christina, Al, Eric, Drew, Uriah, Zeke, Caleb Prior, Will, Edward, Molly, Myra, Tori, Mrs. Prior, Mr. Prior, Peter and more that I can't remember.
It takes place in the Pit, the headquarters for Dauntless, the Chasm, a deadly drop into a river with jagged rocks, Abnegation, Dauntless, and more.
This is the Trilogy:
