This story takes place in New York City. Fudge a money obsessed 5 year old and his 12 year old brother Peter lives in a apartment in the year 2002. Not really that long ago. Things really get crazy though when their family goes to Washington D.C. to explain to Fudge about money. They meet long lost cousins, the Howie Hatchers. Since there are not much trees in New York, even during the fall there is not much color. It's usually gray or sunny, as Peter Hatcher says, " ... It rained all weekend."(Blume# 158). It starts out as near the end of summer all the way to the 1st of December.
