ME, THE MISSING, AND THE DEAD

Author: Jenny Valentine

Pages:201

Hi there! As you might know, in my last post I was very un-satisfied with my book, Milkweed, due to the bad language inside the book, and the un-logical genre. My new book is:ME, THE  MISSING, AND THE DEAD!It has won the "William C. Morris Award". Today, I will be talking about this award:

The "William C. Morris Award", was first established in 2009. So far, only 4 books have been awarded this honor. There are 5 finalists each year, of which my book was one, and then the winner is elected. My book was in the finals, but did not win. This award was named by after famous 19th century writer, called William C. Morris. Born in 1834, William was a very intelligent boy. At the age of 22, he went to the prestigious university of Oxford, but due to the student cap that was already high, he needed to drop out. He would then go to the Birmingham university. He was one of the writers of the "Oxford and Cambridge magazine", and that lifted him of.

Throughout the years, William would write many record braking novels such as: "The life and death of Jason" or "Earthly Paradise", who where to become very famous. He also enjoyed art, and made some paintings and sculptures. In the 1870's, William became very intrigued into politics. He was a leader of the "Socialist Democratic Federation". He died in the year of 1892, due to unknown reasons.

Now, here is my personal perspective on things. So far, the book is great. Full of mystery, and death, this boom is very intriguing. I think it should have won this award, mainly because of the describing. Here is an example that supports my perspective: "........a pretty up-scale name for a battered brown door and no proper door handle stuck on wooden numbers in the shape of clowns.". Here is my grade for the book:

Content: 9/10
Language usage: 10+/10
Organization: 10/10

 Final grade: 29/30- Exceptional.

Here are some interesting facts on the award:
1. The award is only given to young writers, like William C. Morris was, when he wrote his first book.
2. The 2013 winner is "Seraphina".
3. "ME, THE  MISSING, AND THE DEAD" was one of the 5 finalists in 2009, the first year.

THANKS FOR READING MY POST! :)

  2. I think this is quite an interesting way of presenting the book, and the award. It was very different, especially with the 'grade!'
