Escape From Mr. Lemoncello’s Library
by Chris Grabenstein.
The book has 288 pages.
I have read 194 pages.
The main character is twelve year old Kyle Keeley. He was locked in the new city library together with 11 kids. They were participating in a library contest and the final prize would be given to the child who finds its way out from the library in 24 hours. The new library was full of interesting things like electronic games, hologram statues, swirling ladder that reach top shelves. The children had to find clues that would help them to find the way out from the library. Some kids were discouraged at the beginning so seven of them stayed trying to win the game. They made two teams. One was led by Kyle and one by Charles. It was interesting that all through the book Kyle wanted to be nice to everyone including members of the opposite team. He followed the rules of the head of librarians Dr. Zinchenko to be gentle with everyone. The main problem was how to find the way out of the library. The clues were not clear and they did not know if they are on the right track. They had to solve riddles, picture puzzles, word games. The main help were book titles and characters and games made by Mr. Lemoncello. Kyle and his team had really clever way of solving puzzles. He proved to be fast thinker even when he had to solve challenge questions. Those questions were always very hard test because if he does not solve it he would be kicked out of the game. They had lot of obstacles during their clue hunt. They got distracted by one of the contestants that was screaming for help. Kyle and his friend Akimi could not continue clue hunt before they saved her. They also had to secure their findings from opposite team member that wanted to steel them. At one moment Kyle was fighting for the book both teams needed. But all the way through he honored library rules.
