the book that I am reading is called "Ruby Hollers". It is written by Sharon Creech. She is a famous author. She also wrote a book named "Walk Two Moons", which has won the Newbery award. This book as 310 pages. "Ruby Hollers" has won The Carnegie Award. It is a British award.
This book is about twins, that lived in a orphanage. They were named as"trouble Twins" by the owners of the orphanage, Mr and Mrs Trepid. Dallas and Florida wanted to go in a place where they can live peacefully and can call that place their HOME.
Two Old couples named, Tiller and Sairy, wanted to adopt a kid because their own children are grown and long gone to different places, so they want some company for them. They both live in a beautiful place called Ruby Hollers, with lots of dangers too.
The old couple went to the orphanage, where Dallas and Florida live, to adopt a kid. Mr, Trepid thought that he must sent the "Trouble Twins" so that he and his wife can live peacefully. This is how much I will tell you for now about this book.
The main character are Dallas and Florida. The other major characters are Mr. Trepid, Tiller and Sairy.
Dallas: Dallas is a boy that likes to day dream. He lives with his sister Florida. One of my favorite part was when Dallas was trying to call the bird and he was "leaning towards the window", which was against one of the rules in orphanage, when Mr. Trepid shouted at him and said not to lean towards the window and was warning him is he does that he will get punished. But still Dallas shouted to Mr. Trepid that "did you see the silver bird??" but i think as you know he got punished. Dallas liked one of the punishments that they get which was called the thinking corner in which they had to go in a dark room, where they had to think what should they have done to prevent the punishment to happen again. Dallas never thought about these things he always thought about where would he liked to go if he had a chance. The thing that i like about Dallas is that he always tries to positive.
Florida: Florida is a girl who is really funny and can be stubborn. I would say she is pretty smart because she and her brother made a plan to run from the old couples house, the plan almost succeeded but fortunately they did not succeed. Well I said fortunately because they did not know how much the old couples were trying to have fun with them. Florida likes to say the word"Putrid"to the things that she doesn't likes. She is a really good supporter. I think she always tries to protect her brother from people that she thinks are not good. As I am reading this book I figured out that Florida is now sharing her feelings with other people like Sairy and Tiller. She is trying to be nice to the old couple and is not anymore using PUTRID word to describe the old couple.
Mr. Trepid: Mr. Trepid is a mean guy. But sometimes I feel like he is tying to hide his feelings and shows that he is mean instead. I think Mr. Trepid is forced to this by Mrs. Trepid, who always commands him. But after reading few more chapters of this book it seems like he is a mean guy. He is trying to steel Sairy and Tiller's money which is buried their money. I don't really know if he accomplish or not yet.
Sairy and Tiller: Sairy and Tiller are old couples, who are really kind. They both carve the woods and sell them, they get lots of money for their skills. They both always encourage and help each other if needed. They both are intelligent even though they are old. They both like to tell stories to Dallas and Florida about their childhood, like how and where they lived before they came to the Ruby Hollers and how both of them ended together. I think Dallas and Florida enjoyed their stories because they always seemed to ask questions at the end of the stories.
