The Isalnd of the Blue Dolphins

Main Character

In Island of the Blue Dolphins the protagonist(main character) is Karana. I will tell you a bit about her personality traits. Let's begin!

Firstly, let's talk about her main (most noticeable personality) personality. Karana's main personality trait is that she is kindhearted. When she ends up alone on an island with her brother, after a while his brother gets killed by a pack of wild dogs. After that moment she decides to avenge her brother. She finally gets the chance and faces of with the leader of the wild dog pack and almost kills him. But almost immediately says that killing the wild dog was not the right thing to do and quickly nurses the dog into his old self. Afterwards the dog and Karana become best friends and she names the wild dog Rontu.  She showed her kind heart when doing the right thing when not killing the dog. That happened on pages 96-98.

The second personality trait of hers is that she is optimistic and determined. When she was on the island at one point she decided to make a house for herself. She has no other materials other than teh ones she finds laying on the ground. She worked non-stop and she was determined to finish it as fast as possible. Luckily she finished all her work before winter. She is optimistic, and determined because while she was making the house she was always making herself work more to finish it in time...
