Because of Winn-Dixie ~ Madison

The protagonist in Because of Winn-Dixie is Opal. Her real name is India Opal Buloni, but everyone just calls her Opal in the book, so that's what I'm going to call her. Opal has just moved to Naomi, Florida, because of her father's work as a preacher. She seems a bit negative about her new home in the front of the book, but is very friendly. In the end of the book, though, her feelings toward Naomi improve greatly.
The antagonist is most likely Opal as well. It's herself that gets in the way of making friends. She has a negative attitude against nearly everyone, only judging him or her by how they seem on the outside. She believes that her only true friend is Winn-Dixie, not knowing that the few people who live in Naomi have each had their own share of sadness.
The conflict is man vs. self. To put it basically, Opal moves away from a home she loves, and is now very bitter towards Naomi, until she meets Winn-Dixie. Opal loves Winn-Dixie, but it's also Winn-Dixie's fault that she ends up making any friends at all. Winn-Dixie leads her to Gloria Dump, who needs someone to rely on, and Ms. Franny Block, a kind old lady who tells great stories. I won't tell you the resolution yet, because this is the conflict. Resolution = good, conflict = bad.
