The protagonist: The protagonist of the book "One came home" is girl Georgie. She is the younger sister in the family and is very attached to her older sister called Agatha, who appears to be dead. Georgie doesn't share the conviction of her grandfather and mother that Agatha is dead, and starts search for her sister. Georgie is a little selfish ( in my opinion), because when Agatha wanted to go to university to study and was not allowed by her grandfather Bolty, Georgie agreed with her grandfather. She was thinking about only herself, afraid that, Agatha will leave her. Georgie is also constantly meddling in her sisters life,but is also persistent as she refuses to believe her sister is dead and goes to try to find her. Through her journey of investigation and many events she starts to understand her motives better, as well as the motives of other characters around her.
The antagonist: It is hard to determine who is the antagonist as characteristics of characters are changing and Gorgie finds more about them. For example on the beginning of the story it appears that grandfather Bolty who refuses to help Agataha going to university as well as confirms her death is the one who controls lives of all the members of the family. However grandfather Bolty also helps Georgie journey by giving money to Billy (Agathas ex boyfriend) who joins her quest, as he is convinced that search itself will help Georgie to relive the pain of losing sister. Also, it can be said that Georgie herself behaves as antagonist as well, because she recalls many events where she tried to control her sisters life.
