One Came Home - Jelena

I am reading a book called One Came Home. It is a historical fiction novel awarded with a John Newbery Medal .The story is set in the town of Placid, Wisconsin in 1871. The author of the book is Amy Timberlake. The book (as far as I read) is very dark although is described as funny and amusing. I still find it dark, mystical and scary. The book talks about a girl named Georgie Brukhadt who has a missing sister and is called, with her family, to the identification of the corpse that has been found. It is assumed that the body belongs to her missing sister Agatha. Her mother along with grandfather Bolty confirmed that the body belongs to Agatha, however Georgie doesn't believe it. She quickly designs a plan to search for her sister and she takes a book on expeditions and some money from her family store to help her journey. She is very determined to find the truth and she starts her investigation with Bily, ex boyfriend of Agathta. They start trier quest in nearby town. The firs unknown word is submersion. The sentence in which it is used in is "I knew she wasn't asleep she was gripping her pillow like it was a log saving her from submersion. Submersion means a situation in which something is under water, or the process of going under water. The second unknown word is  lodge. Lodge means a small house at the gates of park or in the grounds of a large house, occupied by a gatekeeper, gardener or other employee.
