The Curious Incident
of The Dog In The Night time
Mark Haddon
Christopher
Boone finds himself in a difficult position. After the discovery of the letters, his father reveals the truth about his mother. She is alive and living in London.
Christopher
has to decide whether he should leave without the supervision of his father or
stay with his ‘murderous’ parent. This is an unimaginably preposterous choice
to make. He has never left the house on his own. He is loath to do so, but
this is his only option to ‘survive’. His curiosity and love for his mother beats his fear. He uses his mathematical skills to navigate through Swindon
(the place where he lives) to find the train station. Christopher walks down
the stairs towards the platform and is yet to see what lies upon him. Thousands
of people pass him in a rush. For him this is a catastrophe. The bodies
barging into him send him into a frenzy. He threatens everyone with his
knife. In fact, at that moment he is screaming at the top of his lungs, in frustration
figuring out what to do. He sits next to a coffee bar trying to calm down, using
his math problems. Noise, the screeching of the rails, people, physical contact,
Could he go on? Will he ever see his mother in London?
This was the most exhilarating scene. You can
feel Christopher slowly disintegrating and not being able to think or breathe.
