When Zachary Beaver came to town - protagonist/antagonist - Malaika

In When Zachary Beaver came to town the protagonist is Toby Wilson. Toby Wilson is a thirteen year old boy living his same old life in a small city of Texas called Antler. He is the narrator, the main character and the protagonist of the novel.

Throughout the book we see him as  a negative person always complaining about his life and he is also selfish,(examples:  "Nothing ever happens in Antler, Texas. Nothing much at all."  and "Every one in town except for me and Ferris went to that funeral, and they probably all know we didn't.") turn into  a more positive person, he helps other people and he sees Antler and the people in it in a completely different way. (examples:"I think we should help Zachary get baptize"     "I . . . I should have gone to the funeral." )

As Toby Wilson is the protagonist he is also the main antagonist. He is also the Antagonist because of his negativity. His the one who is stopping him from doing what he should and wants to do because he is so negative and he thinks that it will just be stupid and useless. 

Throughout the book with the help of his best friend Cal and his new friend Zachary Beaver he starts to think more positively and let himself do what he wants to. In the end he is the one who helps Zachary Beaver fulfill his wish, he also starts helping, being nice to the other people around him and he starts to see Antler as a small cozy environment instead of this boring small place with nothing to do.
