Ark Angel
In this story they don't explain the weather, though the setting is quite clear. It starts off when Alex Rider get's shot. While he is recovering from the bullet he stays at the hospital, St. Dominic's. At first he gets tangled up with an environmental terrorist society and saves a young boy named Paul Drevin, he is invited to come with him to watch the launch of a rocket with pieces to build the first space hotel, Ark Angel. On their way there Alex gets pulled away by the CIA and given a mission to look around, all he is thinking of is What has he gotten himself into? The mood in this adventure is sometimes scary, surprising and fun.
