Cinder by Marissa Meyer

The book I am reading for my book project is Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I am currently on page 312/ 390. It is really enjoyable it is getting more exciting with every twist and turn! So, on with the characters. I chose the main two that have a big presence in the book.

First, of course, is our protagonist, Lihn Cinder. Cinder starts of as a lower class citizen, or a Cyborg. After losing a limb, and getting lethal injuries, the doctors that saved her life turned her into a Cyborg, which is the standard practice in her time. She is linked by wires and metal, and is not considered  human. She is very kind, and cares for her sister Peony and her assistant Iko. They both love her back! She is the best mechanic in the city, and the youngest one, at the same time. "Most of her customers couldn't fathom how a teenage girl could be the best mechanic in the city". Things change when her sister gets the plague, and she is forced to be used as a Guinea Pig for pague treatments. The doctors find out something she never would have guessed ''Miss Lihn, from your blood samples I have deduced that you are in fact, Lunar". She doesn't have any magic, unlike the Lunars. The doctor uncovers that she is a shell, a Lunar without any magic skills.

Now our evil Antagonist, Queen Levena. She is the leader of the Lunars, otherwise known as
earths sworn enemies, who live on the moon. She is coming to visit earth 'to create peace', though all of the earthens think is coming to wage war with earth. She has Lunar magic skills, and can make people see her the way she wants people to see her - kind and beautiful.
'She was indeed beautiful, as if someone had taken the scientific measurements of perfection and used them to mold a single ideal specimen.... A chill shook Kai from the inside out. She was unnatural". This beauty helps her brainwash people, and Lunars, all around her. There are some though, that can't see it. "Shells are immune to Lunar glamour. Their brainwashing, as it were. Queen Levena can't control shells, which is why she continues to have them exterminated." She wants to marry Prince Kai, so she can become Empress of the Commonwealth, and rule both Earth and the Moon.
